Great restaurant for vegan and gluten free - Edit
Loved this restaurant for the choices of gluten and or lactose free dishes, they are able to cater for your needs. I ate the vegan starter, vegan main and vegan dessert which were all excellent, easily the nicest food I'd had in Madeira. Husband also thought his non vegan dishes were delicious.

Great, but lacking of protein - Edit
Very nice food, at least 1 vegan option for starters, mains, and desserts. Food was good, service as well.
Read moreHowever, for a "fine dining" experience, we were missing plant based proteins, as everything was "only" veggies with almost 0g proteins per meal. It is nutritionally imbalaced, which is easy to fix for the kitchen/cook.

Five stars at least - Edit
The Terra restaurant is soooo good! There are a lot of vegan options that are special, tasteful and that go far beyond the vegan burger or veganized recipes. Starters we choose were mushroom adobo and vegan tom yum and it was yummie. Mains were sumak roasted eggplant and stuffed courgette with wild rice. Lovely. The coconutpannacotta was a dream. We drank vegan (! ) wine. And the service was so friendly! Terra is top!

Hidden idyll - Edit
They have a lot vegan options and can also arrange non-vegan options on the menu to vegan. The service was excellent - very professional and polite while still remaining authentic. Plus at the start, they specifically ask if you have any food intolerances or if there are foods you dislike. At the beginning they always serve a nice amuse-bouche. It was a pleasant athmosphere with nice backround music. The food was really tasty with many different flavours. High quality and worth the price. We enjoyed it so much that we went a second time on our vacation. Definitely would recommend!

Fancy Schmancy! - Edit
Maybe a bit too fancy for me but quality food at higher end prices, so nice for special occasions.
Read moreI would advise to book online as they are very busy and turned a few away whilst we were there!
The setting is lovely and staff are friendly and knowledgeable.
There are 2 vegan starter options and 3 vegan mains, plus a bonus of 2 vegan dessert options!
I ordered the Eggplant for my main and the Pannacotta for dessert.
They also brought me an amuse-bouche of an avocado and poppadom dish. When I asked if it was 'vegan-friendly', he said no it is just vegan, which was rather amusing!

Really good vegan options - Edit
The vegan options are clearly marked on the menu. They offer starters, main dishes and desserts (all vegan options). Sadly, I didn't take any pictures of the dishes, but I did take the photo of the dessert with which my boyfriend asked me to be his girlfriend. The staff was super friendly and they worked hand-by-hand with him for the surprise. They were super kind and helpful all the time and even planned it all with him a couple of days before it happened; all the logistics from what dessert to do it with, to the line the 3 waiters made before coming to the table in a perfectly synced choreographed move, in the precise moment to do so, their genuine smiles and excitement (I don't even know who was more excited, either my boyfriend or the Terra team!); I mean, their customer service was outstanding! Kudos to that, Terra Team! You gave us both a memory that will last for ever in our hearts!

The vegan options shine - Edit
We went to this restaurant with meat eaters and weren’t expecting anything from the vegan options.
Read moreI was impressed to see a couple of vegan options in all categories and they all sounded interesting and not just falafel on a plate.
For starters I got the Tom yum soup with tofu and I am still thinking about it till this day. The broth was smooth, nutty and creamy. The tofu though was the star of the show! It was so soft and the way it had marinated had absorbed so much flavour. It was full of umami.
My partner got the mushroom starter which was also good. The sauce was full of flavour and the mash was soft, however, my starter outshined it.
For mains I got the eggplant which was cooked to perfection. It wasn’t too mushy, it was cooked perfectly. The smoked flavour worked so well with the sauce it came with and the mash. The sauce was sweet and worked so well!
My partner got the stuffed courgette which again was good but not as good as my option. The courgette was filled with a great mixture of flavours and textures. The sauce on top was sweet and slightly spicy.
For the dessert I got the chocolate mousse which I was a bit apprehensive about. I am so glad I picked it though because it was so delicious. It was a rich chocolatey flavour and the texture was light. On top was caramel popcorn and the slightly burnt flavour just elevated the whole dish. My partner got the Panna cotta and again, it wasn’t as good as my dessert.
Everyone at the table (even meat eaters) agreed that I had got the best options all night. Full on flavour!
Pros: Amazing vegan food , Great flavours , Cool atmosphere

Good Food, Attentive Service - Edit
This restaurant is somewhat hidden in a backyard, but really nicely decorated. The staff is very attentive and gives you the feeling of a more “fine dining” experience.
Read moreWe had sweet potato bread as a starter, and the server specifically asked if we were vegan or vegetarian or had any allergies. The bread and the accompanying spreads were very good.
For the main course we had the Chana Masala (with chickpeas and rice). My wife liked it very much, I found it to be a bit bland.
For dessert we had the chocolate mousse, which was amazing.
Overall well worth a visit.
Pros: Nice Ambiente, Very good dessert and bread, Attentive staff
Cons: Chana masala a bit bland

The price is a little bit higher but the food is out of this world. Some of the best vegan dishes I've had. The mushrooms with lentil paste and roast garlic was divine and the coconut panna cotta was delicious. Two vegan options for each starter, main and dessert.

Five stars if I could - Edit
Superb three course menu! I brought my family who aren’t all vegan and we all agreed it was the best meal we had this year! There were two vegan options to choose from for each course. The portion size was excellent and the food was some of the most flavorsome I’ve had. 10/10 from everyone and a good spot to bring those who aren’t vegan!

An almost excellent restaurant - Edit
I'd actually like to give this slightly less than 4 stars. They have a really great vegan selection, that's also well marked in the menu. Some really inventive dishes.
Read moreThe starting bread was really good, and included some very flavourful purées. My entrée featured some of the best tofu I've ever had, paired with fried banana and an orange cream, definitely an unusual combination!
The main course was unfortunately "only" good, a very decent dhal (I had ordered something else, but there was a mix up -- mistakes happen) with very plain rice. It was perfectly acceptable, but a bit of a disappointment given the price and the starters!
For dessert, I had a plate of vegan nut cheeses. Always good to see this on a menu, even if they're usually a bit underwhelming. The "camembert" was pretty good, the smoked cheese less so.
Recommended, but not the complete fine dining experience.
Pros: Extensive vegan menu, Creative and tasty dishes
Cons: Some dishes could be better, A bit on the pricey side, but not excessively
