Really lovely restaurant on a quiet cobbled street in Funchal. Best vegan food we found in all of Madeira (which didn't have very much!)
Read moreLots of cuisines, and the menu looks to change regularly based on what's fresh locally. We called ahead and they confirmed they always have plenty of vegan dishes and when we went there were about 1/3 of starters and mains and all puddings were vegan. Menu is clearly marked.
We loved it so much we went back again before we caught our flight home. Recommend the cauliflower starter, the chickpea curry and the stuffed courgette.
Definitely get the bread when offered - vegan salted butter and hummus comes with it, both really delicious too.
Highly recommend!

We just had a couple of starters, the pumpkin soup, and the hummus with braised mushrooms and pine nuts. Super tasty 😋

The hummus was delicious too and they make it with caramellised onions and mushrooms….. so unique!
The service was just perfect.
I strongly recommend Terra!!!

Terra is a lovely restaurant situated on a quiet back street in Funchal. The staff were very welcoming, accommodating and knowledgeable about veganism. There are a few options for each course and a very delicious brownie option for dessert. They even had vegan butter for the bread and when they brought the complimentary amuse bouche and chocolates at the end they made sure they were vegan for us. It's quite expensive but worth it for the flavours and dining experience.

Lovely place, staff and food - Edit
Every now and again I like to give my tastebuds an adventure. This place certainly did that. Fine dining, fine wines and exciting flavours. £££ but we are on holiday 😎. The vegan wine was an adventure too with cloudy whites and some sensational reds. Well worth a visit for that special night of the week. Charming seating outside too.

Food was amazing - especially the starters. I fell in love with their hummus! For mains we had the Terra Cotta and it is good but far too expensive for what it actually is. We got complimentary starters and chocolate at the end which was a really nice gesture. The staff and the owners are super kind and service is fast.

This place really exceeded my expectations. Staff was very friendly and helpful and all the dishes I had were just delicious. I had a roasted beetroot with almond sauce and Terra stew with lentils. And for the dessert, a vegan brownie. I would definitely go again to this place and would recommend it as well. Would give it 5 stars, but as it is not entirely vegan, the app allows only 4.

Reservation is required and restaurant was nearly full by the time we left! Vegan options were nice and varied across the menu. Felt really upmarket both in respect of the food and the way the staff treated guests. Food was served really fast and the quality in both taste and presentation was out of this world! Offered complimentary chocolate at the end which wasn't vegan but staff were amazing and actually swapped it out for vegan chocolate instead! It is a bit more pricey than usual but it's to be expected with the kind of place this is. Nonetheless, it was 100% worth it!

This was one of the best vegan dining experiences we have had. They have a lot of vegan option with the tendency to add more to the Menue. If you are in Madeira, give this a try !
