I Can’t Believe It’s Not Butchered

Tried Tango for the first time recently and while I wasn't that impressed with the vegan nachos (cheese sauce was watery, would've been much better with a good melty vegan cheese alternative) we did however absolutely love the "I Can’t Believe It’s Not Butchered" burger and chips. Good quality food for the price, lovely restaurant and cozy atmosphere.

Pros: clearly labelled menu, vegan burgers, helpful staff

Really delicious options

I've visited a couple of times, the most recent time I had the 'Fake It Chick' burger which was really tasty, and the fries are sooo nice too. I also had the vegan crumble - such a treat was delicious. A really nice place with options for everyone.

Great vegan burger in Durham!

If you are looking for a vegan burger in Durham Tango is a great option. While Fat Hippo is usually my favourite in Durham it’s nice to go somewhere that feels a bit more upmarket and independent. Quite a few items on the menu can be veganized and they are really delicious. Great place to go for vegans. It has a great atmosphere in the restaurant and I think they do some nice cocktails too.

Pros: Lots of vegan options, Great location , Great atmosphere

Burgers!

I must be honest - I was steaming drunk when I rocked up to Tango last night, but I've had a vegan burger from there before (prior to changing my diet), so I feel like my recollection is still reliable. I had a burger from the specials menu, and also some dirty fries which had a decent melted cheese sauce and bacon-ish bits. Four of the six burgers on the main menu can be made with vegan patty, although I did notice there's a £2 supplement to pay for the vegan burger options.

Impressed

At the time of review there were no 100% vegan eateries in Durham. There were a few vegan options here at Tango (mainly burgers) we both enjoyed the cauliflower wings (florets) starter very much. Certainly not very healthy options but very naughty and tasty! Great service, very efficient, we also enjoyed the vegan chocolate fudge cake (they made vegan custard especially for us too)Thank you to all @ Tango.

Pros: Food, Location , Service

Good burger - costs £3 more to make vegan

Burger was good - it was tasty. No issues there.

The meat free burger is a £2 supplement which is clear on the menu. Still don’t think this is best practice in 2022 - but fine.

Surprise on the bill - it’s an extra £1 supplement to make the rest of the burger vegan (I’m assuming the bun and sauces etc). This wasn’t on the menu.

I see no reason to have to supplement any of this. It’s dietary, and they should get better suppliers. It cost me £3 more to have the exact same burger as my colleague.

Furthermore, you can’t get a double vegan burger, whereas meat eaters can get double or triple.

Just doesn’t seem to have inclusive practice at this restaurant. With fat hippo down the road, I don’t think I’ll be back.

Delicious food

Went today when the new menu came out. I had the vegan nachos, vegan tango burger with added pickles and aioli sauce. The chips are proper chips and are even tastier with the vegan aioli. They do charge £2 for meat free as stated on the menu but in the receipt there was a £1 vegan charge too, plus 50p for a tiny amount of pickles. I would go back but maybe just get the burger and chips.
