Milk Teas Aren’t Vegan

I hate giving this place a low rating because the staff is always sweet and friendly and the atmosphere is nice, but this establishment is misleading about their milk teas being vegan. I’ve gone to Sweet Dots for months now, and I’ve asked multiple times if their milk teas are vegan. Every person who has served me has said the milks are pre-mixed powders that contain non-dairy creamers, so they’re vegan. One day I asked about the Thai Tea being vegan, and the gal working initially said it was vegan and then she kindly showed me the bag with the ingredients list. Sodium caseinnate, which is a dairy byproduct, was included. If I remember correctly, it was listed like “sodium caseinate from dairy” or something like that.

I understand high school students may not know what this means, but it is on the owners to check that all the ingredients are safe for vegans and to appropriately disclose if they’re not.

I feel betrayed because everyone there insisted their milk teas are vegan, but it appears that they are not.

Ask to read the ingredients before ordering anything here as it seems like they’re not very knowledgeable about vegan/non-vegan ingredients. The fruit teas might be a safer bet, but they’re not milk teas.

Alternatively, Eat Bubbles is a fantastic vegan-friendly bubble tea shop and (in my opinion) much better quality than Sweet Dots.

Cons: Falsely advertise milk teas as being vegan

Sweet and Filling.. Hit the spot

really enjoyed this place, glad to see so many options like this around Nashville. the options are nice and can't wait to have another one tomorrow before I go back home.

Top notch teas

Found this place on a whim and LOVED IT. My wife and I both got the Oreo milk tea and were taken aback by how good it was. If you’re in the rock block area on Elliston Place and need something sweet, this is a must-try.

Pros: Cool vibe, All teas can be made vegan
