Tiki - Edit
I split a poke rice bowl and some bok choy with my boyfriend. It was good and GINORMOUS.
Read moreSwaylos is owned by the same people who own The Roost and Jefe’s. This place is just as good/fine as those other locations, but offers fun scenery and drinks. It’s nice to have a place like this in Longmont
Staff was nice, the place was clean and the bar is in a boat which is pretty cool

Get your shiitake together, Swaylo’s - Edit
As of December 2023, Swaylo’s offers two menu items that are allegedly vegan. There’s the chili crunch edamame on the Appetizers list, and then there are the red curry noodles under the Bowls section. I chose the latter, which according to said menu, consists of wok-fried bok choy, shiitake mushrooms, scallions, chiles, basil, cilantro, cashew & rice noodles simmered in red currycoconut sauce.
Read moreThank goodness the server informed me that this kitchen’s current process is to marinate its shiitake mushrooms in pork broth 😐
Appreciative of this just-in-time intel, I was able to request that my (v-labeled) choice be prepared sans shiitake, though this didn’t provide much confidence in Swaylo’s aptitude for avoiding potential cross-contamination scenarios.
Unfortunately, dear intrepid gastronomers, it doesn’t quite end there. A quick interview of the table’s omnivores re: their food choices revealed a steady round of ‘mehs’ across the board. This extended to the drinks, which was especially disappointing, due to, I don’t know, the whole tiki bar concept. The VanillaKilla and spicy margaritas, $10 and $14, respectively, consist of mostly ice.
The server’s “pro” tip mentioned above potentially kept my “XX days without an animal product ingestion-related incident” calendar flipping forward, and thus just barely bumped this review from a one-star rating.
Overall, aside from its lackluster showing in the food and drink departments, Swaylo’s needs a little less menu-to-reality disconnect and a lotta more respect for its vegan patrons.

Vegan Noodle Bowl - Edit
So delicious! Red curry sauce is creamy and spicy. Crispy tofu is the perfection addition to this bowl! The spicy miso soup is also very tasty.

Boozy Drinks, OK Food - Edit
Went for $5 Mai Tai Monday. The drinks were nearly undrinkable, they were so strong. Ordered a frozen drink and it was still terribly strong. They offer no vegan appetizers, but two entrees. I got the noodle bowl which was just OK. The portion size was really nice, but it was flavorless, something that reminded me of my own cooking.

Cool atmosphere, disappointing options - Edit
For starters, the restraunt has a very cool atmosphere and is a fun place to hang out. Unfortunately, the vegan options are very limited and the taste isn't in line with the high price tag. I would recommend going to Jefes instead, it's owned by the same folks but miles and miles better.

Cons: Limited options, Expensive
