The service was fast, the food was prepared fresh and tasted amazing. The portions were large. We had the Orange Chicken, Sweet and Sour Chicken and Kung Pao Chicken.

Not what I expected - Edit
Service was quick but they were so empty I asked if they were closed. While I was overwhelmed with the large size of the portions, I was also quite disappointed with the food. Wish I had liked it but of the dishes we tried (Gen Tso, veg noodle lasagna, veg wonton soup and veg fried rice) we left them all on the table except for the fried rice. May have been an off night (Wed. Night) but honestly the food tasted like it was warmed over from previous day. No hot tea or even a fortune cookie. I have never seen my partner want to get out of a restaurant so bad as this place.

Pros: 100% vegan, generous portions

They would benefit from shrinking down the size of their menu and doing a few things well.

Loved This Place!!! - Edit
This week I had the opportunity to try vegan General Tsao’s Chicken, it was very tasty, love it. The staff was very friendly and the ambiance was great. Met a great gentleman (also a customer) Johnny and his wife. They also love Sutao Cafe and are frequent customers there. What a great place to visit. #Veganuary

May be the best Chinese Food Ever - Edit
We were traveling home on Christmas Day and found this restaurant open. Honestly, it may be the best Chinese food I have ever tasted. From the corn soup, to “Forever Young“ scallion pancake-wrapped vegan turkey and green beans, to the special order of mixed vegetables, I was swooning. The menu had so many choices, and all vegan. Delicious !

Great find, great menu, great service. - Edit
We found this restaurant off recommendations on HappyCow, turns out it is only 3 miles from our house. One thing that immediately jumps out is the enormously diverse menu. So much to choose from, it almost begs you to come back soon to try other items on the menu.
Read moreMy 14-year old son and I (both vegan for years) tried the pineapple flavored chicken and General Tsao chicken and both were great and quite big portions. We wanted to try to the ice cream, but no more room. Next time!

I love going here because the food is just so good! They have some great fake “meats.” Like other people mentioned, the food is a bit greasy, but it doesn’t bother me.

It has potential - Edit
A fully vegan buffet !?! It would be perfect if the food was better quality. But the fried foods are extremely greasy and they taste like the fryer oil is old. Some things are pretty good but other things are not fresh.

I love this place! A friend told me about it and w decided to check it out. The buffet was 11.99 and includes tea. They have a cold bar and hot bar with two soup options. The food was worth the money we paid!

I liked that there was a lot of vegan options. It is pretty greasy and they use lots of sauce, but the flavor is good. It’s definitely a nice treat, but wouldn’t eat there to regularly as it’s vegan junk food.

All vegan Chinese restaurant/buffet! - Edit
Great food!! All vegan buffet! (Can also order off of larger menu as well). Have been for their regular daily dinner buffet which is always great and I always leave extremely full. Have also been to their “special buffet nights” which are a bit pricer but have lots more options added and really is worth the extra price. I remember having the vegan cheesecake before there which was really good! The regular buffet offerings typically include general tsos, Lo mein, pepper steak, curry, lemon chicken, dumplings, some sushi, salad bar, store bought cookies, steamed rice, fried rice, and others. One time during the special buffet had a vegan steamed bun filled with char siu style meat which I’m still thinking about...

I went during lunch and ordered the Sesame Chicken which was pretty good. I got the miso soup but didn’t eat it because I don’t eat tofu. Their prices across the board aren’t bad, and I think I’ll go back and try something else.

Vegan buffet - Edit
Great vegan buffet. They had a special buffet for Labor day and it was worth the extra $10. Lots of gluten free options. Food was well marked with GF, NF and SF. Food was fresh and they were good with refilling. Vegan ice cream comes with the special buffet but extra with standard buffet. Good combination of salads, cooked food, faux meat dishes, fried foods and greens. There were so many Glutenfree options I could not try them all.

Was probably good once ... - Edit
Being vegan for almost a couple years now, I was really eager to go to SuTao with my wife when we knew we'd be in the Philly suburbs. Seeing so many positive reviews, I figured that we were in for a treat.
Read moreI honestly could not have been more wrong.
From the sign in the window - touting an award from 12 years ago, to the food itself - everything appeared old.
I totally 'get' that a small, mom and pop asian buffet is likely to have a stark interior and a chinese take-out feel to it. And, with good food that would have been more than fine.
However, the food - while flavored well - was horrible ... like it had been put out, taken back, and warmed over for several days.
1) old, crusty vegetable sushi
2) brown rice that was all dried out and even when replenished, was filled with more of the same.
3) All the fried mock meats (like the General Tsao mock chicken) - rubbery and VERY greasy .. like they had been reheated a few times.
4) Even the "homemade" desserts that they had were literally taken out of a box before our eyes - and featured store bought nut clusters and knock off Oreos (they looked like Hydrox, but I didn't examine the label too closely).
I don't know if it was the day of the week or what .. we were there on a Monday at just after 5:30pm so you wouldn't expect that they would have food sitting around for any length of time.
It's a shame. I love that there is a vegan asian buffet .. and it seemed like the food seasoning was really great. It just tasted like I was eating really old leftovers .. and it was all very oily and left me feeling blah.
Pros: If the food was good, the price would be good., Fully vegan - so nice not to have to ask, Location was easy to get to
Cons: Old food at even a prime time, very oily, Advertised "home made" desserts - off brand Oreos

My wife and I have been going to SuTao for about 15 years and we have never been disappointed. I give 5 stars, in part, due to their consistency over the years. We were were newlyweds when we first visited this restaurant. Now we bring our teenager and pre-teen to eat there.
