SUSI, which means "key," is a gluten-free vegan restaurant that opened in Feb 2015. The space comprises a sunroom, upstairs dining area, and a small retail section. Offers gluten-free bread and pastries as well. Removed Sep 2019 - reported several management changes and no longer a vegan venue. Please let HappyCow know if it should still be listed.

So happy they're GF too! - Edit
Susi is a relaxing place to be with family and friends and they're also GF too! My favorites are definitely the Pesto Your Fez, Bandera Negra, Moby Dip, and Cacao that Cares.
Read moreThey can be inconsistent though and it helps that you always tell the staff when they are.

Down hill - Edit
This restaurant when it opened was 5* with so much promise if they rotated the menu and kept a fresh vibe. However, the owner/founder moved to The USA and the quality of food and service steadily declined. I just would not go there anymore as far better Manila options. Same family as Corner Tree Cafe in terms of ownership. I wish they maintained this because it had so much promise. As someone else rightly said was good for 1 year,

Great desserts, needs work - Edit
I fully support a vegan restaurant operating here, this is the only one in the area and we need more, it's very difficult to find decent vegan food in this town. The cakes and the chocolate cookie bars are delicious. The food is so-so, it really needs a flavor upgrade. The restaurant also needs a good cleaning and maintenance. Service can be quite slow so be prepared.

Pricey but delicious - Edit
Vegan and gluten-free restaurant with European cuisine. The dishes are thoughtful and delicious. Chocolate cake is rich and decadent. Perfect place if you are tired of everything asian.

100% vegan - Edit
The starter of bread and dips which was delicious. My veggie burger was pretty good, although the chips were a little dry. My girlfriends pesto pasta was a little too salty. Our friends omelette tasted really weird, we couldn't eat it. The rest of her meal (sausages and rice) was okay, but not amazing. We did leave satisfied and it was a nice place, but it has so much more potential.

Left Disappointed - Edit
From reading previous reviews it sounds like Susi was once a vegan haven but since being taken over by new management, has gone down hill.
Read moreI was really looking forward to eating here after discovering it near to our hotel and seeing their menu. I ordered the Sea Shepherds Pie which came a little too quickly and was cold. The gravy that came with it was nice but the pie had very few vegetables in it - it was mostly mince and mashed potato. I was very excited about the extensive sweet menus only to be told that they just had ice cream (tiny pots of standard flavours) - so disappointing!
So our last meal in Manila turned out to be a bit of a flop. Hopefully they take everyone's feedback on board & turn Susi back around.

one of the BEST vegan restaurants I've been to! - Edit
Very high quality, creative, flavorful dishes that are truly a treat! I've eaten vegan food all over the world and SUSI was literally one of my all time favorite experiences. I really like when the food doesn't particularly taste "vegan" just rich and delicious, that's what SUSI offered us. We ordered the black bean soup, shephard's pie, mushroom rissotto and chimichurri beet burger -- all were FABULOUS! The home-made bread is really a treat too. I'd say the only con was that the air-conditioner wasn't too great and I felt a little warm at times when I wasn't too distracted with how amazing the food was. They also offer organic wines which was awesome to indulge in. Oh, and the servings are MASSIVE!! I see some people saying the prices were high but it was totally in accordance with the huge helpings they give you, everything we ordered was between $5-8, which is a lot more affordable than any high quality vegan food in the US. The menu is big and has so many options it's truly hard to choose (hence why we ordered so many things). I wish we could've tried dessert but we were stuffed full and had take away. I would come here again AND AGAIN until I ordered everything on the menu :) MUST TRY!

High quality, high price - Edit
You get what you pay for. It's very good, varied menu, and a fully vegan venue in BGC to lead privileged people of Manila to veganism, can only be a good thing.

Incredible vegan in BGC - Edit
I've lived in BGC/Manila for 4 months now and Susi has been a staple here. I probably go about 2-3 times per week and it's still really good. They used to have a larger menu but recently have shrunk it down a bit - but the best of the menu is still there! Must tries: el chimichurri burger (the patty is incredible) and "eat your feelings" chocolate cake. The cake is probably the best vegan dessert I've had in a while. Super friendly staff - always attentive and welcoming. Honestly all the food is worth trying. Hard to find negatives about this place - I will continue going back for as long as I live in BGC!

Vegan & GF Heaven - Edit
I make it a point to go to Susi for brunch every weekend. I'd go every day if i can for all my meals. The food is awesome and I don't have to choose whether which dishes are vegan or GF, cause they all are!!! I have yet to go through all the dishes but a huge plus for me is they have wine so I can hang out and eat and drink as much as I can while reading a book on a weekend morning. I'd recommend Susi to all veg enthusiasts out there :) A separate brunch menu will be offered by April 2015 and for now they only accept reservations so please call in advance before walking in :)
