Bummer…you def ordered the wrong thing and I’ve had that experience there as well. They’re known for their nut burger…so if you ever do go back, I’d recommend ordering that or the nutty taco…both are bomb! 🤤

The wait can be long, but everything is made to order and fresh so it's worth it. Almost everything can also be veganized.
Keep your eye out for seasonal specials like the winter chili and summer potato salad. But if you get one thing, make sure you try the nutburger!

What we ordered:
Read more(Vegan) Patty melt - Came in sandwich bread instead of a bun. It would’ve tasted wayyy better with a burger patty.
(Vegan) Chili with cornbread - The cornbread was dry and no flavor. The chilli didn’t have a kick to it. Just bland chili. The cheese was cold on top, would’ve been a nice touch to have it melt a bit.
(Vegan) cookie - Thought it was a homemade cookie. Instead it’s a wrapped Sun Flour brand cookie.
(Vegetarian) Super Nut Burger - Pita wrapped, weird
Chips and Salsa - Salsa tasted like the jarred Tostitos salsa and the chips were mid.
All in all, the food is bland and weird meal options. Really wished I loved it since I’ve read great things.
Pros: Price is cheap , Vegetarian/Vegan
Cons: No flavor , No pizzazzzzz, Limited parking

Sunflower Drive-In has not changed in many years. I came here prior to becoming vegan and thought it was good, now I think it's out of this world. Just had a Nutty taco, plenty of food especially with a side order of refried beans. But unlike most food establishments they give you an option of either vegan cheese or avocado on everything. So this is a must visit Drive-In for a very good vegan meal.

Healthy fast food, mildly seasoned. Get extra pickles and sauce for any item! Food is fresh and healthy for sure. Lacking in seasoning, in my opinion. I fix this w extra pickles and extra sauce on the side. Example- large potato salad? Get a whole pickle to compliment it.

If you have time to burn, you’ll appreciate this older vegetarian restaurant with plenty of vegan options. I got the patty melt with vegan cheese and thoroughly enjoyed my order. Luckily, it was a beautiful day and waiting outside wasn’t a problem.

The first time I went here about a year ago, my boyfriend and I got the nachos and the burrito. I was disappointed in the basic ingredients. The cheese on the nachos wasn’t melted… #NotMyCheese lol. However, I’ve decided to give it another shot today and I was very pleasantly surprised with my order! Satisfied my burger craving with pretty clean ingredients. If you can’t decide between the two, I liked the flavor of the millet burger a bit more. I love that they have veganaise; To me, a sandwich is not complete without it. I also love pickles on my burgers, and both burgers had ‘em. Getting avocado on both burgers cost more than the cheesecake, which was reasonably priced. 😵💫 $2.75 to add avocado to one item? Next time I’ll just buy an avocado and add it myself. Really hope they stop increasing their prices though and open a second location to decrease the wait time. I’ll have to come back when it’s not as busy 🤗

So don’t come when you’re too hungry…because the wait and the line will be long. They never answer their phone and the staff has never been overly friendly. But none of that slows down business because their nut burgers and nutty tacos are THAT GOOD. Also annoying is the lack of vegan milkshakes…but again…I’ll keep coming back for the yummy food regardless. 🙄

This place has great Vegan food. Located in Beautiful Fair Oaks on Fair Oaks Blvd near Village Park and has been a staple of the community since 1978. My favorites are Super Nut Burger, Falafel (the bean sprouts they put on them are Bomb!!!) and Super Nachos 😋 another notable favorite is the smoothies! And the best part is it’s affordable!

A Fair Oaks Institution! - Edit
This place is just special. It’s been popular since the 70s for good reason. It’s charming, the food is tasty and comforting, and the setting is unique. Most of their menu can be veganized if it isn’t already vegan. I’ve never been disappointed by the food! Definitely try this place at least once if you’re in the area.

We arrived around 6:30p on a Friday. Good flow of people. We were able to get a table. Food does take a little while, but we enjoyed the people watching as we waited. I had the nut burger. The fixings is what made it. The patty itself seemed bland. Took home the potato salad to add more seasoning to my taste. My date had the vegan burrito and thought it was alright. Would have liked a little more spice… salsa/pico de gallo.

As the title of my review implies, the vegan Mushroom Millet sandwich really is magical. I love the earthy, crunchy feel of this place and the food reflects its flower child vibes. No realistic bloody mock meats here! You'll get nuts, grains, and fresh produce. You do need to specify "vegan" but almost everything on the menu can be accomodated. Also, be ready to wait. If you're in a rush, this isn't the place to eat!

Read moreBased on its popularity in the reviews, we go the nut burger and then the mushroom millet burger. We both liked the mushroom millet burger much more than the nut burger. We forgot to tell them to make it vegan so I’m pretty sure I tasted some butter on the buns.
Overall, I’d be back for a warm casual meal, but be prepared to wait a bit for your food. Decent amount of parking.

This place is so great! Eat in a peaceful setting surrounded by chickens 🥰🐓 Food is delicious, flavorfu, healthy and wholesome. Menu changes seasonally. Though not strictly vegan, they are vegan friendly and have many vegan options. Highly recommend chili in the winter and nut burger year round!

You can tell the food is made fresh from whole ingredients, their veggie burger felt really wholesome and healthy, not greasy mock meat. They didn’t have a ton of vegan options as this place is mostly vegetarian but it was decent enough. I believe they have a vegan cinnamon roll but needs to be confirmed
