Sueño, you so fine… - Edit
…but your vegan food needs some work.
Read moreI finally got a chance to try Sueño this week after hearing rave reviews for months. I have to say I was a little underwhelmed! Let me explain..
AMBIENCE: 5/5
This place is GORGEOUS. (“Am I even in Dayton any more??” vibes) It’s worth a visit just to check out the space. Impeccably decorated, it’s totally instagrammable with its cactus wall, gorgeous bar and open kitchen. SWOON.
SERVICE: 5/5
Efficient, friendly, quick, hilarious! The service is top-notch while not overbearing.
(VEGAN) FOOD: 3/5
Hmm. This is where I was a little disappointed.
First off, as of right now (April 2022) they don’t offer a vegan prix fixe menu. I called ahead, and the lady on the phone simply told me it was seasonal and unavailable currently. She said a lot of the items off the regular menu could be made vegan.
Here’s what I tried:
1) Guacamole and chips: 5/5. Their guac is actually AMAZING. Super fresh and so tasty with the Japanese seasoning on top.
2) Sikil P’ak/ Pumpkin seed dip: 4/5. Very good, like a whipped, light, creamy dip. The tortilla chips were delicious, by the way - fresh, crispy and laced with lime.
3) Sweet Potato Tacos/ Taco de Camote: 4/5. Veganized by leaving off the crema. The sweet potato was delicious! -charred, smoky, spicy. Small portion size.
4) Papas/ Smoky Potatoes: 0/5. SO gross.🤢 Just look at my pic and you’ll see what I mean! (And I never met a potato I didn’t love! Lol) These came out black, charred, super dry and with a non-vegan dip on the side. 🤷🏻♀️
Overall, there’s room for improvement. I see myself coming back just for the vibe, drinks and apps but not thrilled about the vegan mains.
Pros: AMBIENCE ⭐️
Cons: Menu not marked for vegan options, call ahead, Vegan food a little underwhelming, no v. dessert, Expensive

Interior Mexican - Edit
Creative chef who works wonders with food. Able to accommodate vegans. If you want to splurge, call ahead to arrange the vegan prix fixe menu. Ours was $65 for what turned out to be 6 courses and one of the best meals we’ve ever had - comparable to when we were non-vegan and ate at locales like Le Cirque and Mesa.

The chef made me a 4 course vegan dinner which is regularly available to all guests. Make a reservation and let them know you’re vegan. The food was incredible and lots of menu items can be made vegan. VERY VEGAN FRIENDLY
