Delicious and fun

I had delicious almond based ice cream- cheesecake flavor with graham cracker! It was delicious and fun to watch them create my ice cream.

Pros: Good options for vegans and veggies!

So MANY options!

Not just one or two token almond or coconut milk flavors but about 25 different options for each. They have a special vegan menu behind the counter that lists all the flavors and mix-ins. Really delicious!

Pros: tons of options

Cons: a small size is still really big

I would consider a "really big small size" a pro and not a con! More ice cream for less money? No brainer to me haha

I like it!

This is a really cool place to enjoy vegan ice cream! First ask for the vegan menu. You'll find a list of different options to choose from. Begin by choosing a base of either almond or coconut milk, then select up to 3 flavor combinations & 1 choice of topping. It was delicious! I chose the almond milk as a base & it legit was the creamiest ice cream I've ever tasted. My flavors were toasted marshmallow & sweet chocolate with a topping of dark chocolate chips. Yum.
** Important ** To avoid cross-contamination with dairy products, explain that you are vegan & ask them to use a clean bowl, paddle & scoop to make your ice cream (because after they make an ice cream that contains regular milk, they put the scoop in a container of rinse water which turns milky.) Just saying because they had to remake mine after I noticed the white dairy milk water on the ice cream scoop that was just used to make my ice cream. The staff were extremely friendly. I highly recommend this place for yummy vegan ice cream. Peace and light, Kat

Pros: Lots of different flavor options, You're on the beach in Carlsbad Village!, Creamy vegan ice cream made of almond milk

Cons: Possible cross-contamination if they do not use a, Parking, you're on the beach so it's busy

Vegan ice cream!

I visited SubZero with my family of four after a trip to Legoland California. They have almond milk and coconut milk bases, in addition to traditional dairy bases. The bases are all vanilla or plain flavors. You can then choose up to three flavors, and one mix-in (like chocolate chips, nuts, and fruit). They have a list of the vegan flavors and mix-ins. The staff makes the entire concoction in front of you, using liquid nitrogen. It's pretty cool.

It was a bit pricey ($25+ for four "regular" size servings). I am also not sure that the vegan list provided was accurate. It said that the sprinkles were vegan, but most sprinkles contain confectioners glaze and are not vegan. The staff was helpful, though, and my ice cream craving was satisfied. I ordered the coconut milk base. It was pretty good - not amazing, though. Store-bought Coconut Bliss is much better.

Love Em

I have been getting my vegan ice creams from sub zero since my days in Utah! Not only is it super fun to watch them make your ice cream but is fast, and the staff will clean out their cups if you specify that you are vegan etc. Sometimes they have specific cups that are designated just for almond milk etc. I love getting fruity flavors. The texture of the ice cream can be kind of crunchy at first though so be warned!/

Pros: Delicious, Cleanliness, Creative

Cons: Expensive, Small Portion
