Great food with a great mission

We were so excited to eat at Strecha tonight. The restaurant is large and bright. When we first entered we thought it was small, but the restaurant is in the shape of an L and has about three separate seating areas on the long arm. We sat in the very end room which had a couch with a low table and a chess set and a monopoly game. Our servers were very nice and spoke to us in English.
We ordered the dumplings on red cabbage and the fried cheese with fries. It was great to get to try some traditional Czech dishes veganized. The food was delicious and the portions were generous - we sadly weren't able to finish our meals because we ran out of room.
We were happy to purchase a pending meal for someone in need.

Really happy

We were in a rush so we didn’t get to sit and enjoy the place that much, but it was still really enjoyable. The food is good and it is the first Happy Cow-recommended place in 3 days in Prague that wasn’t crazy expensive. We made a reservation, which is definitely recommended. The staff was very friendly. The food is heavy and helps you get ready for a cold winter.😄

Very good

Got to try pretty much the whole menu and it’s full of hits. The fried cheese and oyster mushrooms were the stars, plus the whiskey sour. Good service, great vegan versions of Czech food, well worth your trip.

Amazing food, fastest service ever!

The food tastes great and isn't expensive. The staff are very friendly and attentive, and the service is very fast.
If you eat here, you should definitely try the raspberry and pistachio cake—it tastes delicious.

Lovely introduction to Prague

Went here on our first night in Prague and it was lovely to have such a range of local traditional dishes in vegan form! Everything was tasty and hearty. Great atmosphere at the restaurant as well😄might have to come back before we leave!

Staff makes visitors feel special

Extremely friendly staff. They took the time to explain everything for us in English. A large menu with different (Czech) options. Delicious cakes.
It’s large restaurant: busy at the front and more quiet at the back.
Option for paying pending lunch for poor/homeless people.

Fabulous!

We had two fabulous meals here because we enjoyed the first one so much, we simply had to come back, even with limited time in Prague.

The ambience is warm, rustic, clean and friendly. The staff are polite and attentive. But best of all, the food is incredible. The oyster mushroom schnitzel was a particular highlight - richly flavoured and gorgeously crispy. It was served with an addictive mustardy potato salad with pickles. So delicious that I’m determined to recreate it at home. I can’t compliment the food enough. Everything we ate - cabbage pancakes, a hearty goulash, dumplings, olives - was wholesome, unpretentious, and seasoned to perfection.

I love the ethos of the restaurant, too. Both times we paid for a “pending meal” so that a person in need could access a lunch for free. If I have to be picky, the only negative is that one of the deserts we had (a berry crumble cake) was a bit dry, but it was the last slice, so I think it’s forgivable. The carrot cake was delicious!

Pros: Incredible food, Amazing ethos , Polite and attentive staff

Tasty local food with a mission

The food was really great, we went back 3 days in a row. The dumplings on red cabbage are delicious. We were so happy to find a vegan restaurant that serves real local food made from proper ingredients. The staff are very helpful and you are supporting their mission to help the homeless and ex convicts. I wish there were more places like this.

Pros: Very tasty food, The staff, The restaurant's mission

Everyone should come here

This place is fantastic, not only they have a social project where they employ people to help with homelessness or served a prison sentence, the food is so good, I had the seasonal lentil soup, best soup I’ve ever had, the soy rinds with potato dumplings was delicious, I wish I knew the recipe for the sauce!

And last but not least, you can pre pay a lunch for those in need!

Hearty Czech food, In solidarity with all living beings

Delicious, hearty food, friendly service, and completely vegan. The potato dumplings with soy strips and cabbage were very tasty. The Buchteln (sweet buns) were a bit dry, and the vanilla pudding was more like coconut foam. What's really great is that you can spend more money, and in return, people who can't afford it get drinks or food.

Pros: Hearty Czech food, In solidarity with people who cannot afford food

Great and affordable vegan food

Love the idea behind it, that food should be available to all. 👌
Great food, friendly staff and for such big meals the price is reasonable.
Only four stars (though it's more like 4.5), because we waited a long time before being noticed and had to signal multiple times to get their attention.

Pros: Food, Atmosphere, Idea

Cons: Long waiting time, Fully booked

Authentische tschechische Küche

Was soll man sagen?

Pros: Geschmack, Gastfreundlich, Preis Leistung

Cons: Gibt nichts schlechtes

Lovely staff, incredible business model and cause, food just wasn’t for me!

I really love the business model - not only is it a co-operative but all the staff are ex-prisoners or have experienced homelessness.

The vibe is gorgeous, venue is covered in warm wood and really tasteful decor.

The food was cooked well and tasted great - just wasn’t for my personal taste! My taste palette isn’t too keen on central and Eastern European food - I’ve tried and eaten lots yet haven’t found anything that I loved loved to my core.

(Absolutely LOVED the sauerkraut soup !!!)

If you’re a fan of these flavours I would deffo recommend ❤️

Great authentic Czech cuisine

We tried Guláš, Svíčková and other traditional dumpling dishes, and as a Czech, I think they were really good and authentic. The price was fair. I’d recommend anyone visiting Prague to eat here!

The interior is nice and spacious with some big tables for larger groups. It’s easy to book online.

Excellent vegan restaurant

One of my - if not the - favourite restaurant anywhere in the world. Offers authentic Czech cuisine. I especially recommend the filled dumpling on red cabbage. They recently changed it from four small dumplings to a single big one and it made the dish even better as you have more filling. The Gulash and Vypecky are good as well, only the vegan duck and saukraut noodles didn’t convince me.

Another highlight is their kofola from the cask of course.
