Vegan restaurant opened Mar 2016 by the owner of Dicker Schmidt. The menu includes mostly German cuisine, like schnitzel, soup or dumplings, appetizers, and dessert. There is also a menu of the day and a selection of beverages. Bar opens til later. Open Mon-Sat 17:00-22:00.

My friends from Dresden told me I had to try Steffenhagen's vegan goulash and they were definitely right! It's amazing, the taste, the texture, everything! I love that they veganize typical german cuisine, a must go for vegan tourists! 😌😋 I also had the fried ice cream dessert, didn't like it that much to be honest. Buttttt, the hot chocolate was amazing! Recommended! 🤩

Can't say much about prices but didn't seem too expensive. Short menu, but really nice positions. Went for a schnitzel and did not regret it. Definitely worth visiting if you're not eating meat but want to try something local.

So that was exactly the dish I chose, my husband had the schnitzel with mushroom cream sauce and we also shared a „Soljanka“ (surely a must to try, when in this part of Germany) - a tangy-tomato stew with different kinds of „meat” in it.
Everything was very yummy.
I especially loved the gravy of my “Rostbraten”, super-flavorful! My pan-fried dumplings were ok, a little to greasy for my personal taste (would’ve preferred the “whole” potato dumpling), the seitan meat very yummy and tender and the cucumber salad very good, too!
It was very filling and satisfying.
The waitress was very friendly as well, we had a nice chat.
The ambience is alternative, but simple and clean.

The food is really good, with a nice terrace in a quite street of the außere Neustadt. Especially the cheese platter, wow! I liked the seitan roast best, the onions with it were so good. The jackfruit burger and goulash were also good, but not as special. As dessert I had churros and Quark cake (vegan ofc).

We had to wait quite a while (>1h) for a rather underwhelming dinner. Both Goulash and Schnitzel were a bit chewy and not well spiced. The desserts were nice however!

They lost some possible regular vegan customers...we went 3 times, first 2 we didn't get a nice impression: average food, less than average service, not a special food presentation. The third time we waited 1 hour and 35 minutes for a schnitzel and a burger. We also ordered an antipasti plate as entree and they completely forgot about it. No apologies at all for the wait. I would suggest to accept less people if they don't know how to manage the kitchen.

Wir haben uns im Steffenhagen sehr wohl gefühlt und wurden super bedient. Zum Essen gab es bei uns den Sauerbraten und die Maultaschen. Beides war sehr lecker und die Portion haben absolut satt gemacht. Wir kommen gerne wieder!

Great concept, friendly stuff, good atmosphere. Steffenhagen serves traditional dishes like Soljanka, Schnitzel or Hackbraten. Had a great evening and will definitely come back on my next trip to Dresden.

We went there because a friend wanted to have some home style cooking and this place was recommended to him.
Read moreBoth of us had quite different opinions on the food. While he very much enjoyed it, for me it tasted dull, okay at best.
The waitress did barely say a word and it appeared as if attending to us was an imposition she wanted to get over with as fast as possible. Most of the tables were empty and she seemed in no rush at all, but she still glared at us when we asked for a little more time to decide on our order.
