Good food, friendly service

Our previous choice was unexpectedly closed so we were happy to get served here just before they also closed! We chose the banana leaf meal and it was good. We were surprised to find that the rice was cold but at least the dhal was warm. Food tasted good but only a little spicy. Enjoyed the refills! All staff were super nice and friendly.

Friendly and affordable

We had lunch here on January 17. It was actually a fun experience. It's a little bit confusing how everything works but the staff is very friendly and as helpful as they can be since most of them don't actually speak English well. There's a woman that works there and she is the best English speaker to talk to.

We had the vegetarian thali on a banana leaf as well as a couple of side dishes of fried cauliflower, bitter melon and mushrooms. I believe everything I ate was vegan, but I don't really know for sure. I would suggest you choose another place if this bothers you, but be aware, there are no fully vegan restaurants on happy cow at this time in Mallacca, but there are others where English is better understood.

We took a seat at a table in the very pleasant dining room and then asked for menus which they seemed to have trouble locating. When we received the menus, they were quite extensive and in English. I get the feeling that most customers do not order off a menu. They usually just go to the buffet and pick out what they want.

It was about 11:30 and most food seemed to be prepared in advance and set out in the buffet. When your food is served to you, it's not really very hot but it does seem to be endless. They keep bringing you more food until you are full and stop eating. They also brought us some communal stainless steel containers of various food items which I assume came from the buffet. There was so much of it that there's no way you can eat at all and I guess when you are finished, those items are returned to the buffet. That didn't bother us but it might bother others. It's possible that the buffet is "all you can eat" and that's what they were doing for us.

There's a hand wash area towards the back of the dining room for you to wash your hands before eating, especially if you were planning on eating with your fingers, Indian-style.

Pros: Nice friendly service, Pleasant Dining room, Very inexpensive

Cons: English not well understood, Difficult to know what is vegan

No vegan options

No vegan options were available when I was there. Only buffet, which was all prepared using ghee.
It was one hour before closing. Maybe the kitchen was closed already.

Ok overall, staff didn’t understand vegan

Staff didn’t understand at all when saying vegan, or when I explained what I meant by ”no milk or ghee”. Went for the veg banana leaf set which was ok, but all food was cold. Seemed like it had been out all day which was a bit worrying. My partner got a fresh cooked (chicken) dish which seemed way better.

Simple banana leaf curry meal

Came here and had a simple banana leaf meal with curries and rice. Staff were helpful. Very cheap. They brought over containers of the curries so we could help ourselves to more food

Okay basic Indian food for cheap price

I took vegetarian rice (6,5ringgits) which was kinda buffet style. You build it on your own from buffet style table.

First the staff will give you rice, I guess you are able to ask more later. Then you take one spoonful from three dishes which the lady pointed for me. After that you can choose one more liquidity option (dahl, tomato soup, coconut based thing...)The lady gave me one more scoop some other liquidity thing. There is also other side things such as tofu and fried veggies which cost a bit extra, around 1 ringgit. I recommend ask the staff to guide you. After I sat down to eat one staff member brought for me a bunch of papadum (cracker like bread).

The food was okay for the price. Nothing outstanding. The food wasn’t hot nor warm because it was laid out as buffet style. If you choose the vegeterian rice, the food isn’t cooked atm so it is higher risk to caught some kind of illness.

The staff didn’t know word vegan, but when I explained it they helped out.

Ps. Naan bread isn’t vegan nor Parahta. Naan contains egg and yogurt, Parahta ghee. Chapati is usually vegan. Asking is key as vegan!
Pps. This isn’t relevant for this restaurant but I thought to point it out since most people visits the night markets: most of the coconut ice creams contains cow’s milk.

Lots of options & friendly staff

I ate here twice in one day as it was so good! Loads of options, and a whole section for veggie/vegan. Their tofu is amazing, and all the curries were delicious. Banana leaf or buffet style, really good prices.
