Delicious!

The only con of this restaurant is that you want to order all of the dishes!!!
Also, the portions are really generous.
I spend only 3 days in Edinburg and I made a priority to go there once again, even if there was other vegan interesting places to check out, because it is simply amazing.

On top of all of that, the have tables outside, you can eat looking at a gorgeous view of a old church and mountain.

Best food

Mind blown. One of the best food I ever had. Two of us ordered wait too much as we wanted to try everything and it was so tasty. Still dreaming about this place.

Exceptionnel !

Cons: Cher

Good but very over priced

We spoke to a girl working there that said she would get us the next table and then she forgot about us and seated the next walk up, we had to go remind her that we were waiting, not a big deal but annoying. The dishes that are sauces don’t come with rice, it costs extra and it is expensive so your meal becomes overpriced. Our meal wasn’t a lot of food but it was pretty tasty, the seitan and rangoons were good. I wanted to like Soul Vegan but it was too overpriced for the food and experience. We met a nice couple there that also commented that the prices are too high for what you receive. I wouldn’t go there again or recommend it.

Delicious

A fantastic dining experience with super quick and great service. I had Nasi Lemak which came with a lovely mango salad and my husband had Rendang Lions mane mushroom and we were both very impressed.

Wonderful food

Our second visit here and it was fantastic! Try the pancakes to share as a starter - OMG! The rest of the mess was also wonderful and the service was really friendly. Do try!

The best vegan food in Edinburgh

I’d recommend arriving early - they stop seating 45 minutes before the restaurant closes. The area around the restaurant is beautiful too.

We could also ask for takeaway. The food is AMAZING - we tried 3 dishes and all of them were perfect.

A must-go if you’re in Edinburgh, definitely.

The best vegan food in Edinburgh

I think Soul has got to be the best vegan spot in Edinburgh. All the menu items are delicious, but my favourites would be the satay tofu skewers, and the gan lau mee or rendang Lions mane mushroom. So good!

Overrated

In the minority here but this place is distinctly average. Starters (bar one) all deep fried, lacking flavour and served with generic sweet chilli sauce. Lions mane rendang was a brown oily slop with nothing fresh or vibrant about it. Katsu on par with Wagamama but a higher price. Having visited Non Viet the previous evening, Soul pales in comparison if you’re after authentic high quality Asian cuisine. Was expecting to be wowed given the buzz around it, but left disappointed.

Great food, and the service was fairly quick. I got there just before rush hour and snagged one of the last two tables. Reservations are definitely advised

Visited Edi twice, came back to Soul!

Ate here 3 years ago and came back the first night visiting Edinburgh again. Dessert special, deep fried sweet potato balls with ice cream, was particularly good! It’s also GF and has sulphate, onion, garlic labeled for FODMAP people. Delicious!

Another win for the IBS gang

Spontaneously ended up here and just barely managed to get a table. Was super worth it though. And they have separate menus at the back with all dishes that can be made gluten free OR onion/garlic free! I had the sweet/sour lions mane mushroom and it was insanely good. Couldn’t believe I was eating a mushroom.

Unreal

I don't need to use a lot of words for this. Look no further for another restaurant, go here, order the Laksa noodle soup and let your taste buds be blown away.

I'd suggest making a reservation beforehand, even on a weekday. That will tell you more than enough.

Vegan Malaysian heaven in Edinburgh

This is one of the best vegan restaurants in the UK and easily matches the top places in London and, wider, Europe.

We visited mid-week after the restaurant re-opened at 5 p.m., with a queue already formed outside. This is a very popular spot—and for good reason!—and I would strongly encourage booking a table in advance.

The food is simply incredible. It’s packed full of deep Asian flavours, fresh, fragrant and beautifully served—so delicious you want to experience it all over again straight away.

There is quite limited seating inside the restaurant, but that’s what gives it its warm and cosy vibe. Staff are very welcoming and friendly and prices are as expected for Edinburgh city centre, with the restaurant only about 10 minutes’ walk off the Royal Mile.

If you are a vegan in Edinburgh, this is a place you will not want to miss. I would give it six stars if I could. I recommend it to everyone and hope to be back soon.

Nice!

The two noodle dishes we had were nice, but not mind blowing. As someone who can’t eat mushrooms, their menu was extremely limited though, so maybe it was a matter of bad choices.

The desserts were very good and I love that the place was exists.

Soul Vegan

Unfortunately, it was fully booked when I stopped by, so I’d strongly recommend prebooking at the weekend. They were still offering takeaways, so I ordered for delivery. The food arrived quite quickly considering how busy they were. It had nice flavours, but was a little soggy — I think I’d have enjoyed it more fresh while dining in.

So so

Very small and busy spot with only a handful of tables, so make sure to plan for a bit of a wait. Overall not bad but small portions and quite expensive for what it was. Have been to several other non-vegan specific Malaysian restaurants and gotten better options for half the price.
