The place settings, including my simply delicious drink serving, are gold. Even my metal straw is gold, but so is the gold metal wine glass (or should I say this creation of Soul's called a Baba, is served in a chalice, because it feels like it). This is a bit of heaven for me.

It's so relaxing to eat at a fully vegan place and be able to order anything without worrying about secret fish sauce etc. But this food just didn't taste much. However, the place is nice and the staff was friendly and the drinks and ice cream were good. So I'll give a couple extra stars for that.

Read moreOur first visit, I had a noodle dish with an awesome presentation, but that was very under seasoned, and lacked the bold, spicy fresh feeling I get from great Thai dishes. For dessert I had the Nutella ice cream cake, which tasted heavily of coconut in stead of chocolate or nuts. The experience was also lacking because the ice cream cake had frozen wrong, and was a hard mess of icicles. Very crunchy cake for the wrong reasons. The liver detox juice I had was good though.
We figured such good reviews had to mean something, so we gave this place another chance the next day. I ordered the quesedilla with queso, salsa and guacamole and two scoops of ice cream for dessert. The quesedilla had a nice presentation, but the queso tasted nothing like queso should, the salsa was watery and tasted vaguely of coriander, but it had no acidity or sting. The quesedilla was somewhat ok, but it had almost none of the tastes or spices I expect from Mexican cuisine. The ice cream was good, though.
The portions are fairly small, and everything we've ordered has been too expensive for what we got.
I also have to mention the placement of the restaurant. It is open towards a roundabout/backyard which is very noisy due to traffic and air-conditioning vents. The smell of trash, sewer and fried fish is also quite heavy sometimes, when the wind conditions are unlucky.

The atmosphere is laid-back with bohemian-style decorations. The staffwas very attentive & friendly. Soul is an upscale (expect a bit elevated prices) fully vegan restaurant with a large selection of dishes ranging from thai classics to stuff I hadn't seen on any menu before (burmese tealeaf salad?? absolute banger!). They also offer some western foods but I did not try any (kids would probably appreciate these).

Only fully vegan restaurant in Karon Beach (at time of posting) so ate here every night to support them lol. Big menu, lots of choice & quality each night was excellent. Also nice vibe & staff.

Surprising Excellent Vegan Only Restaurant - Edit
We missed out on lunch so we ordered a lot for dinner that evening instead. For starters we had the Spring Rolls and the Tofu Satay dishes. For mains we had the Khao Soi, Massaman Curry, Fried Noodles and the Tofu Rice with Curry Sauce. And for dessert we had the Pineapple Raspberry and Mango Coconut Cakes. They were delicious. Large enough portions too. We ate outside which was cooler than inside. Pleasant also. The service was excellent. Very quick too. The pricing was above average compared to Bangkok.

This is amazing!!! The food, the staff, the atmosphere. We have been eating here 4x in the last 48hours. Everything is vegan and just delicious. Even our baby got some food (free of charge). We have been travelling for 8 months and this is by far my favourite place to eat. It is a bit on the more expensive side but that might be Phuket-costs and totally worth it!
