Happy to eat tofu!

Lunch begins at noon. We arrived a bit early and enjoyed coffee. For lunch, I enjoyed tofu & mushrooms and a green salad. Everything was tasty and the server was fun and friendly. The place had a good, cheerful vibe.

A nice option in Tomar

Tomar is a small city so there are not many options, but this place is pretty nice. When I visited, they had 4 vegetarian options, 3 of them being vegan, and they are all quite cheap.

I paid 6€ for a huge plate with seitan, French fries, rice and crudités. It was good, though the seitan was a bit bland.

Simple, tasty Portuguese fare

We had dinner there while visiting Tomar. Had to walk around for an extra hour because they started serving dinner at 19:00, but they’re open before that for drinks/coffee.

They serve typical Portuguese food, and that included a number of vegan options for us to pick from and basically assemble our own “vegan platter” as we wanted. The waitress knew what we needed and was very nice about it.

We ended up ordering the seitan steaks with broiled potatoes and boiled cabbage. It was a very tasty and filling portion, and also very fairly priced.

This place is a good restaurant option for vegans, especially since there is no 100% vegan restaurant in Tomar as far as I could find at the time of this review.

Recomendo!

Pros: Esforçados em oferecer opções vegetarianas/vegans

Pan fried seitan and chips - yum

It’s a low key cafe/restaurant in the middle of the Old Town in Tomar. We didn’t expect great shakes from it but noticed they had a Placa de Vegetales on the chalk board.

As our favourite haunt was closed (it was Sunday lunchtime), time to try this one. So glad we did.

Very efficient waiter who understood plenty enough about vegan food. We were served a beautifully cooked and well presented plate with pan fried seitan, chips, a mound of plain white rice and a basic dressed salad. Large quantities and a welcome change to the other restaurants we had eaten at.

Next time I would ask for the seitan to be cooked to a crispy finish, which is my personal preference. But nothing wrong with how it came.

The other vegan choice that day was pasta with mushrooms. If we’d had the room, the vegan pudding choice would have been baked apples.

I’d definitely eat there again.

Pros: Excellent food, Good value, Friendly staff

Cons: Slight smell of fish in the restaurant
