Vegan oasis in Tomar - Edit
Delicious, home made food, including deserts, all made by the owner. Small restaurant, but cozy and friendly. The only truly vegan restaurant in Tomar, will return for sure every time I travel to north Portugal.

Wasn’t expecting such fresh, delicious vegan offerings in Tomar because the restaurants around the city center look a bit touristy. Ordered the daily specials of legume soup (split pea?), mango avocado salad, quinoa burger, and tofu wrap. All were delicious and filling—the mango salad won my tastebuds over in the first bite. Dog friendly, super-friendly server. A couple of reviews mentioned small portions, however that wasn’t the case today at all. Took pics to show how generous the plates were. Highly recommend.

great food, a bit pricey for what they delivered imo but i was more than happy to eat there (support vegan businesses at any cost!) staff was very friendly but holy moly (vegan) macaroni, the coriander density was crazy! also the mushroom sausages and rösti was pure love 😍 and i got a good reminder for my lemon face

I went here, because I like to support vegan places, but this was just a huge disappointment. I ordered the feijão, which was just a poorly made Indian dahl. Portion size is small, the food is not properly spiced. Overpriced for what you get. Waitress was very friendly, though.

Little gem in the centre of Tomar. Friendly people and tasty food. I ordered the mushroom "alheira," which was supposed to come with veggies, but got salad instead. I'm usually very particular about salads, and that had been one of the reasons I had gone for that dish in the first place as the others came with salad, but I was pleasantly surprised. It was perfectly seasoned and sprinkled with sesame seeds, and the lettuce leaves were just the way I like them.

No geral, tive uma sensação de casa, de conforto, com sabores maravilhosos.

Read moreWe had a very good starter with cheese, tomato and sauce. Afterwards a very good main dish of quinoa burger, potatos with garlic and onion and a very well dressed salad. For dessert we chose the crumble and the chocolate salami (portuguese salame de chocolate, sorry if this is a bad translation of mine), which we had a second round of.
Could not recommend this place enough.

The only fully-vegan restaurant in Tomar - Edit
"Gira, Sol" is the ONLY vegan restaurant in Tomar, as of August 2023—to my knowledge. There are of course other places that serve vegan food, but as far as I know, this is actually the only place that does not serve meat. It's also a nice place, with a relaxed, family-run atmosphere and a great location on a quiet street (unlike some of the other part-veggie options) in the old town. Go!

The restaurant is fully vegan despite its name saying “vegetarian”. Cozy little place under one of the very old buildings of downtown Tomar.
Read moreThey offered a olive spread as an appetizer, vegetable soup, two different main dish options: a quinoa salads and black beans with chouriço, and two desserts: carob cake and parfait. The food was really simple and tasted homemade. We really liked it.
We’re definitely coming back when we visit Tomar again.
