Small portion, bland food

I went here, because I like to support vegan places, but this was just a huge disappointment. I ordered the feijão, which was just a poorly made Indian dahl. Portion size is small, the food is not properly spiced. Overpriced for what you get. Waitress was very friendly, though.

Pros: Friendly waitress

Cons: Small portion size, Bland food

Nice cosy place

Little gem in the centre of Tomar. Friendly people and tasty food. I ordered the mushroom "alheira," which was supposed to come with veggies, but got salad instead. I'm usually very particular about salads, and that had been one of the reasons I had gone for that dish in the first place as the others came with salad, but I was pleasantly surprised. It was perfectly seasoned and sprinkled with sesame seeds, and the lettuce leaves were just the way I like them.

Cute place

The place was really cute, has inside seating and a couple of tables outside.
The menu didn’t appeal to us either seitan and mushrooms - we’re a bit tired of these options.
But a nice vegan only place.

Cozy local restaurant

Very sweet, friendly and hard working staff. Mix of Portuguese home style cooking and classic vegan dishes.

They had an extensive herbal tea menu. Perfect for a cold and daily November day.

We were the only costumers when we arrived. During our meal many locals came in to eat.

Very affordable prices

Pros: Portuguese flavors , Friendly , Local

Cons: Little too much salt

Nice little place

The place is very nice and the atmosphere is great. Some dishes are not bad, but overall I felt this place is lacking taste and creativity, especially when it comes to the main dishes. And I have been there on two different occasions.

A comida sabe a casa e é bastante saborosa.

Sweet little restaurant

Beautiful, quaint little restaurant set off the main street, is small but has seating inside and outside and is fully vegan.
Very helpful staff despite them being really busy.
Fantastic food at a reasonable cost.

Great Food

Small vegan restaurant with small menu plus a daily special. We ate the mushroom stroganoff and risotto and both were so good.

Pros: Two main courses were outstanding., Friendly service., Good price

Cons: That my meal ended.

Delicious vegan Restaurant

All-vegan-food Restaurant, in a quiet street of Tomar. Very friendly staff, greaf service and delicious natural food.

We had a very good starter with cheese, tomato and sauce. Afterwards a very good main dish of quinoa burger, potatos with garlic and onion and a very well dressed salad. For dessert we chose the crumble and the chocolate salami (portuguese salame de chocolate, sorry if this is a bad translation of mine), which we had a second round of.

Could not recommend this place enough.

Pros: Healthy, natural, delicious vegan food, Service, Location

The only fully-vegan restaurant in Tomar

"Gira, Sol" is the ONLY vegan restaurant in Tomar, as of August 2023—to my knowledge. There are of course other places that serve vegan food, but as far as I know, this is actually the only place that does not serve meat. It's also a nice place, with a relaxed, family-run atmosphere and a great location on a quiet street (unlike some of the other part-veggie options) in the old town. Go!

Pros: Good atmosphere, No animal products, Daily specials for main/soup/appetizer

Cons: Only had 30min for lunch; had to catch a train.

Nice vegan home-style meals in downtown Tomar

The restaurant is fully vegan despite its name saying “vegetarian”. Cozy little place under one of the very old buildings of downtown Tomar.

They offered a olive spread as an appetizer, vegetable soup, two different main dish options: a quinoa salads and black beans with chouriço, and two desserts: carob cake and parfait. The food was really simple and tasted homemade. We really liked it.

We’re definitely coming back when we visit Tomar again.

Pros: Homemade taste, Charming, small ambient, Warm, welcoming staff

So cozy place!

An awesome hidden gem - it's a rare case that you find a veg cafe in a small town. Very lovely women treated us with delicious food in a cozy atmosphere. Nice place for a short rest during your trip!

Delicious food, great service

We were very happy to learn that a vegetarian restaurant opened in Tomar. We enjoy visiting the city but vegan options have been limited. At Gira Sol the people were welcoming and friendly. The food was delicious. We started with bread and an olive spread which I think is the best I have ever eaten. I love that in Portugal, you can find vegetable soup just about anywhere, but this vegetable soup was definitely another level. Normally, the vegetable soup is kind of bland and not special. But this soup was special. It was full of flavour and tasted like it was made with vegetables that were just picked. It tasted like springtime. For main dishes, I had pesto pasta and my husband had the beans with shitake mushrooms. Both were really delicious. Portions were very generous. We shared a dessert made with mango and kiwi. It was light and fresh and the perfect finish to a great meal. We will definitely be back. Thank you! 😋
