always vegan options!!

SHIRLEY has been a bright light in my life since it opened a few doors down from me. Kat is a one woman show and cares deeply about where food comes from & her customers!! Her menu is based on fruits and veg that are in season, and rotates frequently. Whenever I come in to pick up an order, she always takes the time to point out new vegan items on the menu, tell me about her plans, and even chat for a few minutes, all while she’s prepping orders. The bread is famous for a reason. It’s versatile and so comforting! SHIRLEY is adventurous and delicious and is a great place to go for veg folks bringing along non - veg friends. happycow only allows 5 stars for full vegan/veg restaurants, so don’t let the 4 stars fool you. And don’t forget the pickles and your fun drink!

Vegan Faves:
- Tofu Banh Mi (my favorite sandwich)
- Sweet potato black bean torta
- Eggplant sesame sandwich
- PICKLES!!! my fave pickles
- in the spring there was this asparagus sandwich… yum
- Chocolate chip cookies!!!
- Tomato soup
- Almost all (if not all) drinks are made w oat milk
- Chocolate hazelnut spread

Multiple vegan options

Usually has at least one vegan sandwich and multiple vegan baked goods. I’ve tried the pumpkin chai muffin, cranberry corn muffin, ginger cookie and chocolate chip cookie all delicious and not too sweet, but sweet enough. When the hot chocolate is on the menu they use dandees marshmallows. The vegan sweet potato and black bean torta is wonderful and the vegan banh mi is also pretty good. The bread is soooo yummy. Rotating seasonal menu based off local ingredient availability. I go here often and then owner is attentive and friendly whenever I’ve gone in. If you see something you like get it while you can as they may not have it for long. I think it’s a newer shop so she may be testing out which menu items do the best before making any set staples.
