3.5 - Lovely restaurant by the seafront - Edit
Seaport is situated in a lovely location right on the waterfront, overlooking the beach and the sea. There are quite a few restaurants along the seafront and when we walked along there they were all trying to convince us to come into their ones. However, when I asked about vegan food a lot of them were just talking about vegetarian and using the terms vegan and vegetarian interchangeably, which I felt was a sales tactic and they either didn't understand the difference or didn't sell vegan food (the word vegan wasn't on many menus). Whether they understood or not it made me wary of whether they would actually serve me vegan food or just tell me it was vegan. However, unlike many of the other restaurants nearby, Seaport has a vegan main listed on the menu. The waiters also seemed knowledgeable about which menu items were vegan, and the menu said that they were happy to cater for any dietary needs, so I felt more confident about Seaport. The food itself was really delicious. For starters we had falafel and humus, both of which were just incredible. The humus was probably the best I've ever tasted. I saved some to have with my main but it was so good I couldn't resist just eating forkfuls of it while I waited for my main course! For the main itself we got the Vegan zucchini. This was the only vegan main listed on the menu but I'm sure they would happily provide alternatives as they seemed very keen to cater to our needs. I was happy to go for the Vegan zucchini though as it sounded really good. And it was! It was really delicious! We also got a side of chips which were also really tasty. The prices were on the pricier side for Kalkan, but as a tourist still very cheap (the zucchini was 150 lira - £7.50) All in all it was a great experience, the food was delicious, the staff were very friendly, and the location and decor is very pretty, so I would definitely recommend it.
