I really enjoyed the vegan tofu tempura battered nuggets and the BBQ sauce was especially good! The Brussel sprouts are great and you get a nice large serving. Prices are a bit high, but the food tastes good and staff are super nice!

This restaurant opened in July 2021. The owners also own Tavern Six in Willoughby Hills. The menu is packaged with many vegan options, which are all clearly marked. Service was prompt and efficient.
Read moreThe quinoa-black bean burger with vegan cheese was delicious. The chickpea burger was also good with a sweet-tasting pickled onion topping. Both burgers were soft and creamy in their style and format.

Pros: Many vegan options , Tasty tavern/bar food, Good service
Cons: Noisy. Next time use the patio, Public parking lot requires 2-block walk, No reservations for small parties.

We ordered the pretzel starters along with the buffalo tofu bites. Both were delicious. The vegan ranch dip and chipotle sour cream was so good we asked for more! For our meal we ordered the vegan tostada and the black bean burger with the house chips which were sweet potato. I have zero complaints! We enjoyed the atmosphere. They allow dogs on the patio. We will return.

Almost there....but not quite! - Edit
I REALLY want to give this place a higher rating (hopefully I can in the future as they are still relatively new). To start with positives, they have organic vegan wine which is great. And their back patio is adorable. Overall has a great ambiance.
Read moreSome things I wasn't impressed with: price, plating, options. They price their vegan items as fine dining, but their plating & flavor of dishes needs a little work. For example their sweet potato appetizer was $12 and you only get 3 small halves on a giant plate, no attempt to drizzle something in the blank spaces or add a garnish (most dishes were like this, not just this one). Then they have a shishito peppers appetizer (which was one of my favorites) where they give you a TON. So there needs to be a little more consistency and thought put into plating. Also, there's no real entree that's vegan. So I found myself ordering a bunch of apps (I've tried them all at this point) and getting a salad or the tofu tostadas (bowls were just ok, and bc they lump gf in with vegan, the Mac & cheese was gross. If you are going to make vegan dishes gf as an attempt to market to a larger audience, you need to know how to make gf taste good to people who aren't gf)
Don't get me wrong, I will happily pay the price if they knock it out of the park, but most of their dishes fall a little short.

Should have more Vegan - Edit
Sage is on the northern side of historic downtown Willoughby, OH. We love the location. We dined on the patio that also features an outdoor bar. The vegan dishes we tried were the tempura avocado and Harissa cauliflower. Flavors in the cauliflower dish melded great together and the cauliflower was done with just enough crunch remaining. Great dish!

We will come back but wish there were more vegan entrees overall to choose from.
