Delicious food & lovely people - Edit
Sacred Grounds is my favourite Exeter Cafe. I absalutely love the vibe and the food.
Read moreIts rare that I repeatedly go back to a cafe and become a regular and even more rare that I would order the same thing as I love trying new places and dishes but Sacred Grounds is the exception as the vegan poached eggs are so yummy and are my comfort food. I happily travel an hour and 30 mins from Paignton just to have the vegan eggs😄
The Sacred Royal is delicious especially with waffles instead of muffins.
I also love the calm energy and genuine friendlyness of the lovely couple who run it and have built up a lovely rapport with them.
If you want lovely food lovingly made and served by lovely people Sacred grounds is the place to go.
If your just visiting Exeter don't miss it but if your a local who doesn't know about it your missing out so try it and you will likely become a regular like me ♡
Its positioned in a lovely little arcade of shops with indoor and outdoor seating and other lovely small independent businesses

Great „egg“ - Edit
Poached egg – I have to try that. The detour to Sacred Grounds was definitely worth it. A tofu egg with a yellow, runny center. Absolutely fantastic. And don't be confused by Google Maps. The café is located in a lovely arcade.

Husband and I try to eat here every time we pass through to his parent’s place (we live in Australia). So sad to have missed it this time. Looked it up to imagine my meal instead. Brilliant, innovative, friendly couple. Recommend their lovely cafe to everyone and wish them loads of success.

Fab Vegan cafe 💚 - Edit
First time visit and as we had eaten earlier it was only for a tea and some cake. So well worth it! We had a chocolate & peanut slice which was delicious and a fantastic beetroot & orange matcha latte. Menu looked really interesting so will be back to try it out. Not too far from the centre of town and in a fab little arcade of interesting shops.

Top Vegan Place to Eat - Edit
We had the Royale which was 2 muffins with 2 vegan 'poaches eggs' and various other extremely tasty bits and bobs. The flavours were just amazing and really beautiful presentation.
Read moreReally special. I want to eat it all over again!!!! The staff were really welcoming and friendly too. We came in at a busy time and had to wait a couole of mins for a table. This place is obviously very popular. We didn't have to wait too long and our drinks came straight away. We will return next time we are in Exeter...in fact this is probably why we will be back in Exeter!
Pros: The food is extra special, amazing flavours., Great staff and surroundings, Everything was good.

Lovely setting nice food - Edit
Really loved the eggs they were amazing, food had so many flavours and oils and extras it all got a bit lost so you couldn’t really taste the main event. Same for both meals. Maybe if they made one thing the show stopper

Hey Kerbie!
Read moreAww that’s so disappointing to hear! We purposefully marry the flavours so carefully to create a really flavourful plate.
We have so many people who love the effort and the combination of flavours that we create, these two are bestsellers actually as you can see from the last review here.
We can only try our best and I guess flavour is actually dependent on the person, you really can’t please everyone.
Hope you’ll come back, but I can’t guarantee that we’ll be any less flavour packed, we try our best to be innovative and thoughtful in all that we do and I sorry that we didn’t wow you this time :(
Vegan businesses are already struggling this year so I hope that the next review that you leave a vegan indie business is five star otherwise you are only damaging the business and their reputation,
All the very best,
Hayley & Nathan

Poached eggs!!!! - Edit
Came across this place by accident as next door to a vintage shop we visited. 100% recommend. Perfect for lunch and brunch. They also do a few evenings with tasting menus. Beautifully prepared food with excellent flavours. First time I have been able to have a poached egg since becoming vegan and how brilliant it was. They had run out of home made beans so will need to go back again when I'm in Exeter.

A *MUST* Visit when in Exeter - Edit
What a splendid cafe! I visited a few years ago and then forgot it was here... more fool me.
Read moreTheir comprehensive all vegan menu contains a delicious range of dishes. I opted for the breakfast sandwich and my wife had the Sacred Benedict. They were both amazingly tasty, filling, and the poached 'egg' was just incredible.
The staff were attentive and friendly, and there is a good range of deserts. Even the tea is top notch and photogenic ;-)
As I said in the title of this review, if you're anywhere near Exeter, Sacred Grounds is a must.
