Minimal Options - Edit
To be fair, we visited during Winter Lights, so the menu was modified, but unfortunately, that meant there were no clear vegan options. The chili was labeled vegetarian, and there was a distinction on the menu for vegan and vegetarian options, but I decided not to wait in the long line to find out more. None of the baked goods were labeled vegan, though there were some drinks and chips available. Next time I visit the Arboretum, I will give Rootstock another chance, but will remember that options may be limited, especially during special events.

Truly disappointing - Edit
Cafe conveniently located inside the landscape arboretum in the visitor center.
Read moreThey offer mock tuna salad sandwich, but both breads they offer with it are not vegan. The chef suggested that we use focaccia as sandwich bread instead. Unsure if this is always offered. Focaccia was dry and flavorless (even after putting on oil and salt) and the tuna salad was ok. They seemed to use a lot of liquid smoke which is not my favorite and also not a usually flavor in tuna salad?? The ancient grains salad is just fine, could be seasoned better.
Overall I feel like they’re doing the bare minimum for vegan options and they could be improved greatly.
Pros: Clearly labeled , Staff is somewhat knowledgeable
