the pancakes are to die for 😍 - Edit
the pancakes are incredibly good, but unfortunately also incredibly expensive... The salad was delicious, even if it lacked dressing.

Pros: the pancakes are simply the best, some vegan options (not too many though), the tea was nice (although £4,50 !)
Cons: pretty expensive, can be crowded at times

Perfectly fine but overhyped - Edit
A hot spot in Durham, famous for its view and pancake stacks but it's a shame the cafe has become expensive and more trendy than good food.
Read moreVegan breakfast options include avocado on toast (with mushrooms, sriracha and hash browns), a full vegan breakfast and a sausage sandwich - unfortunately, no vegan pancake alternative. They offer one vegan cake: coconut and strawberry but I've never fancied it. I've been here numerous times as friends love it and tried each breakfast, they're perfectly fine but nothing special. The breakfast is uninspiring, featuring the usual vegan options: avocado, canned baked beans, mushrooms, a tomato, sausages, and hash browns. Drinks-wise, they offer a vegan milkshake, but only in vanilla flavour, which costs £6.50, coffees with oat milk and smoothies. Alternative milks demand an additional 50p, so the coffee comes to at least £5. As a family of four, we spent £85 on brunch, which feels a little robbed, to say the least.
It's not somewhere to avoid, but I wouldn't necessarily recommend it for a vegan treat unless you're just following a group of non-vegan friends. It's a nice place and prides itself for aesthetics, just a shame vegans can't enjoy it as much as everyone else.

Afternoon cake with a view - Edit
A popular spot on the riverside with lovely views. Ideal place for a bank holiday afternoon cuppa & cake. Luckily they had a vegan GF lemon & blueberry loaf cake so I didn’t have to miss out on the cake bit of the equation.
Read moreStaff clearly clued up about allergens as they asked if I was gluten free or coeliac & marked it as for coeliac on the order.
Update: returned here for lunch and they have a separate coeliac menu as well as gluten free. If only all restaurants were as clued up

Special spot but odd vegan food - Edit
We had the BBQ jackfruit burger, which was meh. And the Avocado, banana and strawberry on toast which was wtf. Not too bad. I would like to try Vegan breakfast.

Would like a vegan pancake option 🥺 - Edit
Lots of vegan/veggie options and the menu points out it as well - which I find very helpful instead of having to ask for the ingredient list! Staff were friendly and let you you enjoy the views; no time restriction, no rush (me and my friends ended up staying for over two hours haha) . Also the cakes were delicious (yummy vegan brownies) and great coffee. However, was a bit spenny for alternate milks and syrup seeing as my latte came to £5. Pet hate is a plant milk that costs extra - I can’t help being vegan and lactose intolerant 😭😭
Read moreI got the jackfruit burger which could have used some more sauces as it was a tiny bit bland BUT the chips were so good . Light and fulfilling . My friends fiercely recommend the veggie pancakes - they are a highlight! But be warned - very filling - been told to order 2 rather than 4 if you want to finish the stack! Also I feel sad as a vegan I can’t share in the pancake experience - plz make a vegan pancake options as it’s what ur most famous for!! I want to join the pancake club!
Lastly there is meant to be an after 2pm house cake and coffee/tea deal on the weekdays for £4.50 on the website . There isn’t one, which as uni students ended up making the meal quite spenny! Please bring this deal back or take it off the website.

So many vegan options - Edit
Lots of vegan options, vegan milkshakes, hot and iced coffee, vegan brownies, even jackfruit bao buns. This place is so quaint and homely. I opted for the crushed avo toast and a chai latte with oat milk, this was so good
