Ok vegan options - Edit
I see that I am the first one to review this place and can say that there are a few vegan options available here. There are salads: shakarob ( tomato, onions, hot pepper), fresh salad ( tomato and cucumber), crispy eggplant. There are four soups on offer: cream of pumpkin, cream of broccoli, cream of mushroom and cream tomato and roasted vegetable soup. Make sure to tell them to omit cream garnish though all above mentioned soups are vegetable based.
Read moreI ordered tomato, onion and hot pepper salad which was delicious and good portion. They were out of pumpkin ( darn!) but server recommended cream of broccoli which came with croutons and small side of mushy rice( 🤔? ) Soup was delicious but passed on adding/eating the mushy rice.
There were no pizzas available when I came in today and don’t know if they ( still) offered vegan cheese which I saw in above Happy Cow restaurant description but I have yet to eat pizza in Kazakhstan or Kyrgyzstan as they add eggs to the dough! Every time I ask, that is the answer I always get. Sigh. Why?! I did see buckwheat cutlets, however I went for the cabbage rolls. Tasty but they used quite thick cabbage which made it hard to cut through even with a knife!!
Important to note that they post vegan options under vegetarian options so be sure to say ‘’ no butter, cream , eggs or sour cream’’ to dishes . Good thing I asked about boorshook, which are usually accidentally vegan flour, water and salt, as this restaurant adds milk to them.
The food is fine, good portions and reasonably priced . Would have liked a bit more variety with vegan main dishes such as a vegan lagoman using egg free noodles or a potato/veggie stew .
Nice interior, good service and a place where one can find vegan options.
Pros: several vegan food options, reasonably priced, good portions
Cons: more vegan main dishes could be offered , make sure to specify what vegan means as only have, vegetarian menu section
