My first two choices were unavailable, lucky me as I got the French toast, easily the best presented breakfast of the year, tasted great too. What a lovely place. Easily the best food I've had on my New Zealand trip.

Go to Raw Sugar! - Edit
Love this place - The staff are super nice and accommodating. Unfortunately more vegetarian options than vegan but still a really awesome place with great coffee! Would love more people to go here as it’s a small business that would benefit from the boost!

A sweet treat - Edit
Light filled cafe with plenty of space to relax. My create-your-own brekki (mushies and rosti on toast) was luxurious. The team here really know how to make a vegan feel spoilt.

Amazing - Edit
Cute, clean and cozy vegetarian café with almost everything vegan! The staff was friendly and helpful and the service was great. Great selection of teas and delicious coffee. We had the vegan egg benedict which was incredible and some yummy counter food for our day trip. I've never been to this place before and was wonderfully surprised! I hope they go fully vegan soon!

Excellent Food, 5 Star Service - Edit
I had an excellent vegan breakfast here this morning. The staff at Raw Sugar are so friendly and really brightened up my morning. The options are vast with a solid menu and mouthwatering cabinet food. Most of the menu can be made vegan (if it already isn’t) would definitely recommend the eggs Benedict made vegan! Today I had their Breaky Ciabatta - it was filled with vegan scramble, mushrooms, hash brown, vegan cheese and a sauce which I think was the vegan hollandaise.

Great cafe - Edit
Went there two times while travelling in NZ and liked it both times a lot. The atmosphere is very cosy and the food was very good. We liked the savoury things more than the sweet stuff but both were fine. Reasonable pricing and very friendly staff. Would go there again.

Great place! - Edit
Had breakfast at Raw Sugar Cafe this morning and was very impressed! Great vegan options on the menu—Everything tasted great! Good ambiance with fun furniture and music. I normally hesistate to give non-vegan places a 5-star rating, but the friendliness of the staff are what convinced me to bump my 4 up to a 5. Would definitely go back.

Most of the menu can be made vegan, plus there is plenty of vegan options in the cabinet! They serve vegan icecream in their iced coffees and cashew cheese in the main dishes as alternatives. The staff are lovely too. Highly recommend!

God damn delicious - Edit
In my week long visit in Christchurch I ate here 3 times. Not because it was the closest vegan-friendly place but because the food is fantastic and the staff is incredibly friendly and helpful. Everything on the main menu is either vegan or can be made vegan.
Read moreI tried the vegan avo mash'nhash, which is so good I had it twice already, the tofu scramble was really good aswell and the shredded "pork" sliders were delicious aswell. I highly recommend the waffle fries as they were just pure goodness! Coming with vegan aioli.
I didn't really check out the sweet section but everything there looked great.

Ooooh, fancy - Edit
Small menu of veggie items. Most, if not all, could be veganised. Also a cabinet selection about 1/3 vegan.
Read moreWe ate from the menu - vegan eggs benny and vegan avo on toast. Both very good. Benny was a little salty for my liking but I find that most places that aren't my own kitchen. The coffee also very good, in fact it was the nicest latte I've had in a while.
Service was impeccable. Very friendly, nice ambience. Not the cheapest but worth it for a treat I my opinion.

Classy, affordable, delicious - Edit
What a find! We stopped by with little time to spare, but will definitely be going back to enjoy this place at leisure. We ordered from the cabinet: a bretzel, a mushroom roll and a salad. The vegan options were well indicated. The food was great (the roll could've been hotter, but it was fine in a hurry!). Welcoming, friendly and professional staff.

Brand new, good food, very friendly - Edit
Open one week as of 19 Dec 2017. Virtually everything on the cook-to-order menu is vegan or can be made vegan. Many items from the cabinet food selection are vegan as well, though many are not (there is a limited vegan dessert selection, for instance, when we visited).
Read moreWe had the Benedict (sub tofu for eggs) which was salty but very, very delicious with great sauce, and the brekky wrap from the cabinet. Both were filly and tasty and prices are reasonable.
The staff is very friendly and trying very hard to please at their new location. Give them a try.
Pros: Location, Food, Prices and friendliness
Cons: Pay-to-park unless you're in the neighborhood
