Lovely restaurant with a great terrace - Edit
We had the vegetarian naked beetroot burgers (swapped couscous for chips). The terrace is lovely and the food was very filling.

Raiz has a lovely terrace, with inside seating too, a few minutes from the centre of Sintra. They don't break for lunch, which is also handy if you've just come down from exploring the palaces.

Add fresh orange juice, water, and a jug of sangria for under €45.
As others have said, it's annoying that you can't give somewhere 5* if they're not vegetarian. This was some of the nicest fresh food we've eaten in Lisbon and the surrounding area.

We went there at our trip to sintra. the atmosphere at Raiz is simply amazing. they have a very nice terrace and outdoor seating. the food was amazing and the staff friendly. we had the tempeh and tofu salad. both were amazing. go there when u visit sintra!!!

My wife and I ate at Raíz last night and it was amazing. Happy Cow doesn't allow five stars for restaurants that aren't totally vegetarian or vegan. Well on our trips around Portugal we have eaten at many fully vegetarian and vegan restaurants and the meals we had last night totally met or exceeded any we have had at any five star restaurants. The staff are great and you will not be disappointed!

I've been in Lisbon for 3 weeks and tried all of the vegan places here. Went on a day trip to sintra expecting to be eating chips all day. Found this place and was BLOWN AWAY. So so so good, the Asian Tempeh salad was incredible. Service amazing, price good. Vegan options limited but the food was better than anywhere in Lisbon.
