Serves meat, vegan options available. Indian and Surinamese restaurant with a vegetarian menu that includes vegan choices such as samosa, malka dal, pakora and more. Open Mon-Sun 12:00-21:00.
This was a pleasant surprise! We ordered the vegan version of the vegetarian thali, which apparently even included vegan samosa. The friendly waitress seemed very well informed about veganism and she assured us all vegetable dishes were vegan by default anyway. After the samosa and papadum as starters, we were served several vegetable dishes (everything was tasty but especially the aubergine was a delight!) and dal with rice and even garlic naan. Everything was very flavorful (but not at all spicy, at least not to my taste). The dish also came with a small dessert. We left very happily with a full belly.
PS Somehow the location on the map in Happy Cow is at least 500m off from the real location, although the address appears correct. Check Google maps😉
The menu doesn’t describe which dishes are vegan, so we called. The owner was very helpful although it was not 100% clear to me 🫣 It would be easier if the menu has allergen symbols ;)
The vegan options he told me are:
- Lentil / potato / cauliflower / green beans / or pumpkin curry.
- White rice (fried rice is with egg)
- Papadum
- Naan breads
- samosa / pakora / baahji
- Vegetarian Thali can be made vegan
We had take away. Big portions, and friendly owner who gave us an extra snack and naan bread. Small downside the food was not super warm anymore when we got home.
