Yummy

I only got the dessert - the chimi chimi joint.
It’s the perfect thing to satisfy a sweet craving. Would be perfect if it were 2 for $6, but just one is a little overpriced.
Excited to try rest of menu

Pros: All vegan, Desert too

Generous portions!

We were excited to see that this was so close to the Airbnb where we are staying, which is an amazing part of town. We ordered the General’s Chicken which my husband loved, and the Yoga Dragon. We got the larger size and it is a lot of food! I would recommend getting extra sauce. The mock chicken is delicious! We also ordered 3 appetizers: Taiwanese Fried Buffalo Mozzarella (fantastic), Firecracker Fingers (sauce is perfect) and Sichuan Dumplings. I ordered the dumplings fried and they didn’t transport well, so would recommend steamed. Overall, wonderful experience, highly recommended.

Pros: Huge portions , Fast service, Delicious food

Cons: None

Couldn't Even Order

First of all, you can't go in due to you know what. So they have an order window. I stand at the "order window", they say they'll be with me in a moment. I asked if they would bring a menu, because I can not see the small print on the wall menu. They tell me no paper menus, I'll have to look online. I look online to find a bunch of items I have questions about, like "what do they use as a chicken" replacement. So I tell them I'm ready , then they say I have to order online. Smh... Why though? I'm standing right here and I have questions🤦🏾

Creative, colourful, delicious

We loved our meal here. The food was creative and tasty. My only critiques are the food tends to be overly salty and they don't serve tap water. You have to order bottles.

I, too, agree, that it was salty. You can fill your own cup or bottle by the condiment and napkin station.

The best

This is one of my favorite vegan restaurants in the DC area. They have some great healthy options and large portion sizes. I really enjoy both the Mom's Style veggie fried rice and the Natalie Porkman. Their vegan chik'n is also incredible. If you haven't tried their sister restaurant Bubbies Plant Burgers, I also highly recommend!

Tasty and large portions

This restaurant went fully vegan a number of years ago, and according to the owners is doing much better now. I can see why! The food is flavorful, and each vegan meat is made in house in a completely different way based on the dish. I ordered the Natalie Portman which is a bowl of brown rice with vegan meat, vegetables, and an irresistible mildly sweet sauce. I also had some fried mozzarella balls which were really hearty and satisfying. Asian comfort food at its finest.

I love their interior design, filled with plants, wooden walls, and artistic touches.

I hope you have a chance to meet the owners and chef like I did. They are amazing people.

Pros: Great vegan food, Cool interior

A DC vegan staple

This is one of my favorite spots to order takeout from in DC. They make their own vegan chicken and it is really good! Highly recommend the K-Town BBQ chicken bowl and firecracker fingers. We are disappointed that they’ve started charging $1 for extra sauces, the K-Town BBQ chicken bowl is usually pretty saucy, but we like to order extra sauce for the other bowls. Heads up, I don’t think they are doing much dine-in service during the pandemic, this is definitely more of a takeout/delivery spot.

Pros: Amazing food, Compostable packaging, Reasonable prices

Cons: Not much indoor dining, Charge $1 for extra sauce

Good, creative food with disappointing service and eco-consciousness

Finally made it here today after first hearing about their all-vegan menu a few years ago. The food was very good overall, but they don't cater to dine-in customers much at all--no restroom, no water, and they packed everything in take-out containers inside a bag even though I told them twice that I'm dining in. Maybe they changed their ways because of the pandemic.
The food was flavorful. I thought the Taiwanese cashew mozzarella croquettes were especially good--crispy on the outside with complex flavors. The trolley fries had too much Korean chili sauce and little kimchi and cheddar sauce. The wontons were actually dumplings. And too bad the fried foods were diminished by having been enclosed in boxes like everything else.
One more negative--when I asked the server at the counter if he could turn the music down some (it was quite loud in the seating area), he said he had no way to do that. Somehow I don't find that to be an honest answer....
So, good, creative food, and delightfully all plant-based, but too bad they're not as conscious about sustainability and service as one might expect.

Pros: All vegan, Creative, flavorful dishes

Cons: Not a good dine-in place, unhelpful service, Unsustainable packaging, Packaging messes up fried foods

Go to for vegan in DC

Pow Pow is my go to place. I've tasted most of their menu and I love it all.
They frequently add new items as specials.
They can be a little inconsistent. Some days it's a 11/10 and some days it's only a 8/10 and knowing how amazing it can be makes that 8 disappointing. it's always good, but most times it's better than good.

Pros: Good value, Creative menu

Cons: Sometimes the rice is dry

Solid lunch spot

A truly great spot for lunch. $10 goes a long way here! The bowls are full of unique and bold flavors. The chik’n is really impressive. Would super recommend the firecracker chik’n bowl.

5 stars!! (Updated now 100% vegan)

While there are some incredible vegan places on H St, Pow Pow’s vegan options are definitely up there! We’ve eaten there twice and it was delicious both times. The vegan mozzarella balls, giant egg roll, and Natalie Porkman are so flavorful and unlike anything else in the city. It’s great to eat at a place where vegan options aren’t just an after thought and they’re always trying to add more (judging by their Instagram). This is a solid go to when I need to a place to eat with omni friends and I hope they continue to expand their vegan offerings! And come to Arlington next!

Amazing flavor explosion!!!

Fast casual, hip. The food here is so good and unique. The flavors are incredible. I always get mine on lettuce (as opposed to rice) because with the fake meat and sauces, it can get a little heavy otherwise. Sooooo yummy though. Go eat there immediately! :-)

Want to try again

I ordered using DoorDash and the food was still very fresh. I ordered the trolley fries, which weren’t amazing tbf. I didn’t really have any Kimchi or cheese on it (as advertised), it was mostly just fries with sriracha on it- still good. Moz balls were... okay... not my fav at all.

The chicken fried rice was amazing, even my non vegan friend enjoyed. Would recommend, doesn’t taste oily and like it’s gonna weigh you down. Cant wait to try more on their expansive menu.

I Eat Here Twice A Week

The food here is really realy good. Great Asian fusion vegan food. I am so in love with the Reuben Eggroll and Trolley Fries. I can eat that twice a week. I've also tried the Disco Stick Eggroll, Fried Chicken Fried Rice, and Yoga Dragon also good.

Ups & Downs

MAN! I wanted to love this place! I love Asian food and live a plant based lifestyle. Ordered a lot of food for the whole family (and because I was anxious to try so many different things). Most things I ordered were good! The Taiwanese Fried Buffalo Mozzarella, excellent! The Chimi Chimi dessert egg roll, DELICIOUS! The General’s Chicken, good but mine had a hair in it. I called and they did reverse the charge for it, AFTER asking me to inspect the hair and tell them the color of the hair which threw me because my stomach turns at the very THOUGHT of hair in food. That was a bummer. Lost my appetite for the rest of the night. All in all, the food that I did get to try was good. Minus two stars for the hair and the way it was handled although I do appreciate the refund.

Pros: Flavorful , Thoughtfully created food, On GrubHub

Cons: Questionable Cleanliness Practices, Questionable Customer Service

Could come here everyday

We discovered Pow Pow on our last day in DC. Had we come sooner, we might have been back everyday to try everything on the menu! Friendly staff, great prices, amazing presentation and so yummy. You can tell each dish is prepared with care.

Pros: Vegan everything - including desserts

Cons: Only one location. Come to Chicago please!

Pow Pow is worth the Bang Bang!

One thing I’m very happy about is that NE/WDC is becoming a real #veganhaven. There are multiple #veganrestaurants on The Hst Corridor and I couldn’t be happier😋. I wanted to try Pow Pow before via delivery but the delivery rate was almost as high as the price of the food, but in house the pricing is VERY reasonable! The menu is small but that can be a good thing sometimes. Because I already ate, I didn’t want to overstuff myself so all I had was the Sichuan Dumplings and miso soup. If you get the soup then it’s unlimited if you eat in house! I’m not a tofu fan so if you do order it then ask for the soup without tofu since they add it and it’s not actually in the soup. The dumplings (I got steamed but you have the option of fried if you like). They are stuffed with only vegetables as the restaurant is fully #plantbased. They didn’t wow me, but I wasn’t turned off either. What did impress me was the customer service😊. They were very friendly and helpful. They are the main reason why I will be returning and trying more of the menu. Pow Pow is essentially a fast food restaurant so don’t expect to be wowed or looking for any kind of gourmet touch. But it is worth the money and is a very viable option if you are in the area!

Pros: Customer service , Quaint menu

Ah-mazing

We’ve ordered delivery twice. It is our favorite restaurant. OMG - we’ve loved everything. Bursting with flavor, oil yes but not saturated with it, whole grains in the bowls, the way they mix flavors (!), and I just have to say - seasonal Thanksgiving wrap... they accidentally gave us two on an order (instead of the soup). Thank goodness because there maybe would been a throw down for the other half. I will have to go in person now. Don’t wait. Order or go.

Pros: Lots of creative options, Whole grains, lots of veg, Flavor and variety

Wow

Amazing and wonderfully creative offerings that will appeal to both Vegetarians and non-vegetarians alike. I ordered their dumplings and they were so good that I couldn't drive away; I circled the block for a second order. The bowls are salad based and bucket list worthy; a must.
