very good experience

Had a coffee and snack in Dec 2009 and loved it. The Date Scones where out of this world yummy, coffee was good and all other food on offer looked very appetizing. Very friendly atmosphere and good service.

Pros: healthy , friendly staff, central location

Cons: only open until late afternoon

Nice spot, they could do more for vegans

There are a lot of vegan options, but some of them felt a bit lacking... Their vegan big brekkie swaps eggs for beans.. Beans are great, but why not have a vegan egg or scrambled tofu option in 2024? My cauliflower wrap was nice, but I'd probably just go to another place next time

Cons: Not 100% vegan

Best loaded Baked Potato

I was checking out the menu when a person came out and told me how good their was-especially the baked potato. So I gave it a try. They have GF and vegan options too.

Just the potato would have been fine but it comes with 3 toppings and green salad too. My almond latte was also terrific.

Tasty wrap

Even though there were not so many vegan options, the falafel wrap was beautiful! So tasty and with the perfect amount of seasoning. Wish I'd had more time in Dunedin to go back there.

Had high hopes

For a dedicated vegetarian cafe you’d think the vegan options would be better than what you get at the surrounding omni cafes… not so much. Really high focus on dairy and eggs on their menu.

I had the beans on toast, which were good. Nothing special, but not bad either.

My partner had the big breaky (made vegan) and was highly disappointed. The vegan sausage was the driest thing we’ve both eaten and was generally not enjoyable.

The vibes of this place are very cute, so has lots of potential, just poorly executed at the moment from a vegan perspective.

Lovely place, not very good food

What a lovely place: medium-dark wood, homey feel.

So you can imagine how disappointed i was with the pumpkin pizza. It didn't taste fresh, and was full of a sweet, unpleasant sauce.

Pros: Lovely place, Friendly, helpful staff

Cons: The food.

Pros: Heerlijk eten, Goede service , Ook Take away service

Cons: Druk, dus even geduld hebben voor een plekje

Good with a lots of option

It was a very good breakfast that I took there. It was a bit small but I guess it’s because it’s a pretty gastronomic restaurant (I think)

Pros: Beaucoup d’options , C’était bon

Cons: Un peu cher , Les horaires

Could be better

Barely any vegan options, only cabinet option was the date scone. Sure it’s a good scone, but not the best in the world as they advertise.

Pros: A proper scone

Cons: Catered to vegetarians , Milk in everything

Loved it!

I visited Potpourri Vegetarian Cafe several days in a row, when I visited Dunedin six weeks ago. I loved the vegan samosas, with a bit of salad and chutney and also their hot chocolate. The other food in the cabinet looked appetizing too, but I couldn't resist repeating the same order each time I visited. Service was friendly too. All round, a great cafe.

Pros: Service, Food, Ambience

Awesome place - wish I'd tried it sooner

Really enjoyed my vegan lunch here - I got all cabinet food and everything was awesome: samosa, salads, and ginger crunch slice. Staff were lovely, and the atmosphere was really comfortable. I also appreciate that it's open at this time of year (between Xmas and new year) when all the vegan places seem to be closed. I'll have to come back next time I'm passing through Dunedin to try the other vegan options!

Pros: Plenty of vegan options, Tasty, Comfortable atmosphere

Nice little vegetarian cafe!

Nice finding in Dunedin. I didn’t try any dish, only a soya capuccino and the vegan dates scone. It was really nice! The place has 3 vegan kind pastries (scone, oat ginger bar and brownie) and quite a few vegan options for meals (breakfast, omelette, porridge, salads, toasts, pasta,…). Nice place with nice relaxing atmosphere. Recommended!
They also have many gluten free options.

The worst vegan burger/meal

Unfortunately, my review gonna be contrarian in the positive crowd. We went there for lunch and my vegetarian partner had omelette with salad which he enjoyed. My meal seriously deserved the title of « the worst meal/vegan burger » I ever had. The bun was as rubbery as it can only be, beans patty so dry that it hammered the plate in my attempts to cut it, and the only flavor to taste was a generous portion of chili sauce. Needless to say, the cutlery could not cut this « chef d’œuvre » at all.
I wish to trust positive opinion of others regarding the place and consider my experience as unlucky choice of a dish, but I personally will not risk to go there second time.
Just DO NOT order vegan burger to spare yourself from same negative experience.

Pros: Location

Cons: Disastrous vegan burger

Well I definitely recommending putting both sweet and spice in a coconut milk chai latte lol. I couldn't decide between the 2 🤣

Great little cafe

I love the atmosphere of this place and they do vegan scones that are delicious although being from England it is a little weird they don’t serve with jam. Maybe a kiwi thing? I did ask for some once and they brought me some and also make sure you get vegan spread not butter by mistake.
I have had the baked potatoes which are excellent value for money so good to be able to get cheaper options when eating out in town. Also had the falafel burger which is a little more expensive but was really tasty. Love the ginger slice which is a little on the sweet side but a firm favourite.

Tasty!!!!

Had the tomato, cream cheese and pesto bagel - just amazing! It was simple yet filled with great flavours.
Also, the staff write the menu on blackboards everyday - so beautiful and neat that you’d think it was typed by computer

Pros: Lots of vegetarian + vegan options, Friendly staff

Cons: Eggs and other dairy present in some dishes

Good vegan options

Cute cafe, nice service, loved the burger and had an amazing ginger crunch raw slice. They claim to have the best vegan scones in the world but were sold out the arvo I was there.
