- Passionate political/ethical vegan (consistently) since 1996. I don't believe vegan food has to be mediocre and I'll call it if I see it. I don't agree with some of the decisions Happy Cow makes about which restaurants it lists. It's getting to the point now where there'll be a listing for a chain restaurant that might have one or two vegan options amongst a huge number of murdered animal ones. To me this defeats the purpose and I don't think we should be too hasty about listing businesses.

Reasons why I prefer to eat vegetarian or vegan:
I don't want to participate in the murder, torture, abuse or exploitation of any type of animal. I also want to avoid the environmental damage and unsustainability and the dire economic inefficiencies and resource wastage involved in animal product industries. Health benefits are a bonus.
