The restaurant did an overhaul and took away the fully vegan menu. They also are posting spam links to articles about how veganism damages the planet more than not, and calling vegan patrons complainers. Take it off of your radar.

SUUUUUUUUCK! Long time visitor of this establishment and yes, the change has not been what we would have wanted. We're crushed by the fact that the original establishment could not make it as-is and needed a partner to come in and help financially. Problem is, meat is not going to fix their issues if the food is sub-par. They do have vegan/veg options (sorta) but they're a shadow of what it was. Currently, the food is ok, not anything unique and in our experience microwaved. We likely won't be back and honestly are heart broken about it.

Outstanding! I can't wait to come back. We don't live in Medford, and had to make an unexpected stop here because of car troubles. Coming to Portal was our consolation prize, and I had no idea it would be so amazing! The spicy mushroom tacos were outstanding, and my husband devoured his chicken tacos. He had the breadsticks as an appetizer, and I had the pretzel- both were incredible. As for the beer, ohhh my! So hard to choose, and each one we tried was delicious. Went for a taste of flight because it too hard to decide on one. The server was super thoughtful. Portal is for sure going to be a fixture when we come through Oregon. I will go out of my way to come back here again and again!

Didn't partake of craft brews, but VERY creative, inviting names/flavor choices

Cons: Chickun taco a bit mild, needed more flavor, Potent pickles! And I am a big pickle fan.

The website is in dire need of a revamping. If it wasn’t for reviews here, we wouldn’t have tried it, as it doesn’t appear open or even vegan. We realize it was’t in the past, but the current website is a real turnoff. Glad we checked it out though. The food was quite tasty, the beer was just okay. The spicy mushroom tacos were exceptional. Soups were great, very hot (temp). Grilled cheese as it should be, yummy. Grilled PB & Jellyfish sandwich was so good, we’ll be making it at home. The flavors of beer were intriguing, yet just okay in actual flavor

Love their menu. The gyros are delicious and they offer a house-made chickpea patty option(delicious) or beyond meat products. Flavorful and unique. The arti-fish tacos are delicious and gluten-free. They have hot pretzels, tacos, grilled cheese sandwiches with house-made soup, a pizzadilla and usually a tasty dessert. They brew all of their own beer. Warm and inviting space with some trivia nights and live music in the walkable downtown area of Medford. Love this place.

We loved the aesthetic and yummy (all vegan) food at this little brewery. The philly cheese steak pita was amazing. Also you'll want to get a pretzel for sure. The owner and staff were also super nice and chill.

Delicious food and beer for a warm summer evening! - Edit
Had a great meal here at Portal after a long couple days of enjoying Crater Lake and the surrounding area in the summer. We had tacos, gyros and a flight of beers that were filling and delicious! Definitely the best meal we had in the area.

This is a great place to stop for lunch or dinner in Medford. The owners are really nice, friendly, and they like dogs. Prices are extremely reasonable, the food is delicious and interesting, and the self-made sour beers we had were great. I will definitely go back the next time I'm passing through.

We stopped here on our way through and gorged ourselves on half the menu. Had the artifish tacos, mushroom tacos, falafel waffle (all 3 gluten free btw) as well as dolmas plate and gyro plate. The waffle was probably our favorite but it was all great. We also tried 2 beers, a cranberry lemon ginger cider, and both the caramel pecan and marionberry cheese cakes, which were divine. Check this place out!

Portal Brewing is by far and away some of the best food I’ve ever had. So many times, as vegan or vegetarian, you feel like you’re sacrificing when you go out… Portal goes out of the way to make you know that vegan and vegetarian food is and always has been delicious! The beer is fantastic, service is amazing, but most of all flavor flavor flavor! I couldn’t recommend it more!

This restaurant/pub is now FULLY vegan and has yummy plant-based comfort food! OMG! Amazing plant-based food and amazing micro-brew! Prices are very reasonable, too. This place is the real deal. A family-run place that treats you like family. We have eaten there twice in a month, and can't wait to go back. I want to try everything on the menu! Plant-based comfort food that will delight anyone! We have had the dolmas plate, gyro with Beyond, Thai pita, artifish tacos, hummus plate, and peanut butter cup pie. Plus, various of their brews. I like darker brews and BF likes lighter - all were delicious. We like to sit at the small bar/counter to chat with the family members. They also have rotating specials - I missed out on the tamales - dang! Looking forward to going back again, very soon.

So great to have another Vegan place in Medford! - Edit
Several friends and I tried this place and we all enjoyed our dishes. The Wipeout with Pumfu was pleasantly spicy and I got it served on spinach instead of the pita and it was delish. One friend got the Thai Roasted Veggie Pita and she was delighted. Another friend ordered the Pretzel and Falafel Waffle for appetizers and we all tasted them and they were very yummy. I look forward to going back to experience more of the menu!

We were originally planning a quick roadside lunch during a long drive from Portland to San Francisco and ended up spending 2 splendid hours here instead.
Read moreMichael & his wife own and run the place, and both are vegan. The inside space is cozy and quirky. We had our dogs in tow, so we sat outside and Michael set up a heat lamp and water bowl for us. Friendly right from the get-go !
The food was unique and delicious. We had the schwarma with pakora (out favorite), artifish (artichoke-fish) tacos, and the pretzel (complimented with a wide array of mustards). Since we were driving, we did not sample any of their beer, but we understand that it’s all locally brewed by Michael’s parents.
Can’t wait to stop by again on our drive back to Portland !

Literally the best thing about Medford! - Edit
First of all, don’t let their old menu online confuse you or put you off - this place is now 100% vegan. Their current menu at the location says “plant based” but the owner assured me that everything is vegan. Such a rare and awesome thing down here in Southern Oregon. We are down here visiting family and although there are some vegan options now, lots close at 5 or earlier or are in Ashland (cute, but a little further away).

Plus their beers are all delicious (we tasted like 6 of them, don’t judge) and their dog is adorable. There’s outdoor seating for good weather and just a few tables inside. People were coming in to get takeout and get growlers filled.
We had the faux fish tacos 🌮, the pretzel 🥨, and a salad (because greens). Fish tacos are fried artichoke hearts seasoned with seaweed and were very good. Pretzel was awesome, just like a buttery salty pub pretzel, but VEGAN! And they brought out like 8 kinds of mustard with it.
My only 2 regrets are that I didn’t find this place when we first got to town 5 days ago and that I didn’t get the peanut butter cup pie. Will be out first choice when we are back in the area!!

Exactly what I was looking for - Edit
This place deserves more than five stars. It sports a delicious all plant based menu and some truly amazing beer. If you're in town or even driving by it's more than worth the stop. I wish I had a second stomach so I could shove more of that fantastic food in my mouth. Plus the staff are incredibly friendly and go out of their way to make your meal perfect. You can't go wrong eating here.

Best vegan food in the Rogue Valley - Edit
Small, intimate brewery with a fairly large vegan menu and tasty beer choices. I had the shawarma with pakora and the fishy tacos—both tasted amazing! I also had a few bites of my wife’s schnitzel and it was very good. As far as drinks, the chocolate stout was incredible. This place is run by a husband and wife team, they are both very eager to explain their menu and helpful when it comes to recommending their favorites. The food was ready very quickly. Overall, we had a great time and hope to be back soon!
