I’ve always felt that Happy Cow should be about the food and the experience of finding great vegan places. We travelled specifically to visit this fully vegan restaurant, so unfortunately being made to feel unwelcome left a bit of a sour taste.
We were told the kitchen had closed due to being short-staffed, and then, with around 40 minutes still until closing time, tables around us were being packed away. This made us feel like we were being encouraged to leave rather than welcomed to stay.
The service also lacked professionalism and the server wasn’t particularly friendly or welcoming, which unfortunately added to the overall experience.
We also ordered two cakes to share, which were both squeezed onto one tiny plate. Someone came in after us and ordered a single cake, which was served on a much larger plate. It’s a small thing, but given the rest of the experience, it added to the feeling that we weren’t particularly welcome.
That said, we really enjoyed the food we were able to get. the dishes that had already been prepared and were available in the fridge and the cakes themselves were lovely.
I’m giving 3 stars because the food we had was genuinely good, but the overall experience was disappointing and didn’t feel like the warm, welcoming vegan experience we had hoped for.
