Overpriced and lacks flavor - Edit
I wanted to like this place, but unfortunately it was a let down! We ordered on Grubhub and will not be ordering again, maybe it’s better in person but I doubt we give it another try. My partner got the garden burger and Cajun fries. The fries were not Cajun flavored and not great in general (soggy, again this could be because of delivery). I ordered the Naija bowl and fries, the bowl is very overpriced for what it is( 1/4 cup of rice, raw unseasoned kale and raw garbanzo beans) and has no flavor without the dressing. The only part that was ok was the plantains and potatoes but they still weren’t spectacular. Also I did not get my fries:/

Recently, I visited Pigeon Peas with friends, all eager to indluge in Caribbean cuisine. The menu was brimming with mouthwatering choices, and made our decision-making process delightfully challenging.
Read moreTo kick things off, I ordered the Pumpkin Patty ($5), which was good but not outstanding. My friends enjoyed the Cauliflower Wings, although the $16 price tag for a dozen felt steep.
The Vegan Jerk Kebab ($18) was the highlight. Bursting with flavor, feelings of love, and delightful textures, it was a winner. My friend wholeheartedly agreed. The rice, on the other hand, was just okay.
The service was frustratingly slow, despite the minimal patrons. The delay was so significant that I had to rush and take the remainder of my dinner to-go. While the staff was friendly, there was a noticeable lack of communication and organization.
Notably, pizza was unavailable during our visit. Also, Pigeon Peas does provide options for those who prefer fish and meat dishes.
Despite the hiccups, I'm willing to give Pigeon Peas another try, opting for take-out. I'm rooting for them to reach its full potential as a local Caribbean gem with vegan offerings, and with a few adjustments, I believe they could achieve abundant success. 🌴
My true rating is 3.5
Pros: Varied Menu, Positive Ambition, Easy Parking
Cons: Slow Service, Pricing, Lack of Communication and Organization

I had mixed reviews of the food I ate. One of the patties I had was delicious, the other almost tasteless. The calallo was good.

The reviews don’t lie, this place has bomb ass food. Had the jerk kabob and it was so flavorful. We will be back.

Wish I can give 5 stars... Most of the menus is Vegan. The food is amazing and FULL FLAVOR, transporting you to the Caribbean! Every dish we had did not disappoint. Just go.. thank me later.

Idk why happycow doesn't allow 5 stars for not fully vegan restaurants, but I promise this place deserves it. Amazing food, great friendly staff, good vibes PERIOD. Vegan beef patty was scrumptioussss and my trini friend said it was one of the best he's had in NJ 🤫🤫

The majority of the menu is vegan and the lentil patty and macaroni pie were absolutely delicious!! I kinda wish I could give it the full 5 stars but unfortunately the restaurant is not entirely vegan. I will be coming back though!
