An all vegan beach shack, what’s not to like? Service was friendly, good coffee, my friend had a very tasty stack of pancakes with a generous amount of berries on top. Pizza was fresh with what seemed to be homemade pizza dough. And sea view. And they welcome dogs. So 5 stars without a doubt

Ik ben hier al heel vaak geweest. Alles op de kaart is vegan en lekker. Dus genoeg te kiezen. Ik vind de koffie hier altijd top.

Voor wie met de auto komt, je kan hier gratis parkeren.

Na een korte, wat mindere periode is Pele alweer wat het geweest is: relaxed, vriendelijk en schoon. Alles is hier Vegan, wat kiezen gemakkelijk maakt, en de locatie is geweldig. Het strand is hier een stuk rustiger dan dat vlakbij het station. Hier is het rustig (geen harde muziek). Op het terras kun je dan ook lekker liggen, lezen en kletsen. Ik heb gisteren bijna de hele dag rondgehangen bij Pele, alleen af en toe weggegaan voor een duik in zee. Tip: wees duidelijk in wat je wilt bij je bestelling. Een Patatje Vrede wordt bijvoorbeeld iets (te) royaal bedolven onder de mayonaise en pindasaus, maar wanneer je erbij zegt dat je niet zoveel saus nodig hebt of vraagt om de sauzen apart te houden van de patat, komt het personeel hier graag aan tegemoet. Ze zijn super aardig hier!

Overall, it’s a great option if you’re at Hoek van Holland and want a place to chill with decent food and a charming atmosphere. I would not come here just for the food…

It really pains me to give a bad review for a vegan restaurant. The hygiene of the restaurant and workers is very poor. The tables are sticky and full of crumbs. There were at least 3 sick workers, blowing their noses, wiping and coughing in their hands and not immediately washing their hands. 2 of those working in the kitchen. The bathrooms are filthy and the plants are dying. The food was just ok, it had little flavor.

A beautifully decorated restaurant with character. We ordered the okonamiyaki pancake for breakfast, which was incredibly tasty. The pita scrambled tofu was also very tasty. For a snack we had the Patatje Vrede, which we really enjoyed. The hot chocolate with whipped cream was the best I've ever had.

I’ve visited Pele twice now, and I cannot recommend it more. It’s such a lovely place to spend a sunny day, eat great vegan food and go for a swim in between. There’s free parking nearby if you arrive by car (9 minute walk).

A lot of different chairs and couches to choose at Pele. Only the hammocks are missing but they might be occupied all the time, because this a great place. The menu has a lot of different choices so it is quite difficult to choose from. I choose the BLT and my friend the onion rings and Cheazy Melt, everything was delicious. Also they have a great choice of drinks! We will come back soon!

located near to a nice beach, pele surf shack is the only vegan beach bar in the nl. the place has an amazing interior, perfect for watching the sunset. the prices are way to high for the food quality, however this is a common feature for every beach bar I guess. the place was really busy, but the staff was well organised and everything went smooth. food was fine (not exceptional) but the lemonades and cocktails were awful! we made the mistake of ordering too many options, as they seemed delicious. our advice is: when you visit pele surf shack, enjoy the atmosphere more, do not set too high expectations for the beverages and food. immerse yourself in fully vegan experience you can have, at least in one place in the nl.

Wij kwamen hier voor een lunch op een heerlijke najaarsdag. Door het mooie weer was het behoorlijk druk en daar had de keuken niet op gerekend. Nu is wachten op deze plek niet zo erg, maar 1,5 uur tot 2 uur is wel erg lang wachten op je eten. Het eten (pizza / patatoes) zelf vonden wij aan de vette kant.

We gingen hier altijd met heel veel plezier naartoe. Voor de vegan sushis en al t andere (beetje Oosters getinte) heerlijks. Het was altijd moeilijk om te kiezen! Dat is nu niet meer. Meatballs en pizza… pizza met koude rauwe tomaten en de meatballs waren pap. Hopelijk komt de nieuwe eigenaar tot het inzicht dat de surfshack meer verdient dan de gemiddelde friettent. Ook jammer van en voor het gemotiveerde lieve personeel!

It's soo relaxing to be able to stroll out of the sea, sit down on a comfy chair and order whatever without having to check whether it's vegan or not. Which is possible at Pele's! They're 100% plant based.
Read moreI enjoyed a decaf cappuccino which was good but expensive and their Pancakes for lunch though the warm fruit was rather cold (it was windy but they must've cooled off very quickly during the walk from the kitchen to my table) and they were a bit on the dry side and seemed the Golden Syrup was missing. The table next to me noticed the same thing and asked for some syrup to pour over the pancakes which the staff had no problem providing. I was super hungry though and just ate it as it was. While I was paying I mentioned the dryness of the pancakes and was told the pancakes are very absorbent and tend to be a bit dry, in which case I'd think it might be a better idea to provide a small bottle of syrup with every pancake order to use as needed.
For dinner I ordered a Chai latte which was okay, but not to my taste, fries (which were absolutely delicious! Expensive though), and Bitterballen with mustard which were also really, really delicious (yet expensive). Their Yuzu and Vanilla lemonade was a treat as well!
Downsides to me were the fact that there were a lot of off-leash dogs walking around on that part of the beach as well as on Pele's terrace, which resulted in a dogfight on the terrace, even though its a no-(unleashed)-dogs-allowed part of the beach.
I also felt like my waiter was not having her day, she was curt and looked annoyed for some reason. I'm not certain if it was in reaction to me, just her personality or if she was having a bad day but it didn't feel very welcoming. I also had to wait quite long to order my lunch but it was busy and they seemed understaffed at that time (dinner was much better).
Last thing I really disliked were the flags/garlands used as border markers around the outer perimeter. During lunch I had one of the beach side lounge chairs which placed the flags in full vision. I love staring out at sea but with those annoying flags right in my line of sight it was rather stressful, especially with their dancing around due to wind. Maybe the flags can be placed on the ground or at knee level or something because this really takes away from the relaxing purpose the sea can have.

We came here to eat on drizzly evening before catching our ferry back to the UK and had such a good meal: the curry and burger were both excellent, and it was a novelty to get vegan whipped cream with the hot chocolates. My key lime pie was a bit too bitter for my taste due to the matcha powder on top.
