Amazing food & Vegan Menu!

Love the concept behind peace nation, not only that but the vegan menu and food are amazing. All four of us raved about our dishes and left very happy. The prices are also extremely reasonable for the freshness and high quality. It’s super cute on the inside, a nice place to just grab a drink or a full Latin meal. We will definitely be back next time we are in the area!

Great Guatemalan restaurant with huge vegan menu

I have been to Peace Nation many times now and enjoy the food. Guatemalan as served by Peace Kitchen at least, resembles the more familiar (to most Americans) Mexican cuisine to some extent, with burritos, enchiladas, and hot chili peppers among the things in common. This diner-type restaurant offers fairly quick wait service and things prepared partly in a grill behind the counter, where one can also sit. Permaculture business principles are posted publicly, along with announcements for community events. In recent years, the business has switched to being open for dinner only one Saturday per year for a First Saturday celebration of the new month's art exhibit. (The business is located in the Midtown Arts District, which seeks to build a new local economy based on art, health care, education, and tourism. First Saturday is a MAD event encompassing numerous venues around the city.) Many items on the vegan menu are great brunch-comfort-food dishes. Befitting the idea of a diner, one can select from many options for burrito fillings, etc. For healthy options, I like the mixed veggies as the filling in the classic burrito, as well as the large Guatemalan salad and various smoothie options in three sizes, starting at $3. An established vegan friendly option for Kingston diners, especially enthusiasts of spicy Latin American food. Has hosted events for local vegan group.

Pros: extensive vegan menu, diner-type setup with art & comfortable facilities, spicy food and permaculture principles

Cons: not completely vegan

Peace, Love and Happiness

Wonderful new Guatemalan restaurant has lots of vegan and vegetarian options as well as traditional Central American fare. Breakfast menu includes tofu scramble and fakin' bacon. I really enjoyed the Guatemalan Sampler of taco, pupusa and Garnachos filled with veg chicken, veggies or veg beefy crumble. The black bean Peace Burger with sweet potato fries was tasteful and perfectly seasoned. Good smoothies and drink choices. Owners are experimenting with adding dinner on the first two Saturdays of the month. Great for takeout with easy parking and green packaging. Nice, friendly people understand vegan and are accommodating!!!

Pros: top quality vegan food, reasonable prices, generous portions

Cons: no alcohol
