Vegan specials not available, yummy pasta and sauce, raw tofu - Edit
I went here as they were participating in the Vegan Chef Challenge. Unfortunately, only one of the four vegan dishes was available, and since it had Impossible protein, I wasn't interested.
Read moreThe regular pasta menu has vegan sauce options and a tofu add-on, so I gave that a try instead. The pasta and sauce were delicious.
The tofu was unseasoned and raw/uncooked. Just tofu out of the package, crumbled into the dish. Sure would have been nice if they took the time to stir-fry it with some olive oil, salt and pepper. The Maillard reaction makes tofu more delicious like any other protein.
Friendly service, props for having vegan sauce and tofu options, but I'd have a hard time getting excited about going back unless they learn to cook tofu. Or add the Vegan Challenge Specials to the regular menu (and have them in stock).
Pros: Vegan pasta, sauces and tofu add-on, Friendly service
Cons: Raw tofu

Great family ran place - Edit
They always have gluten free pasta rotating between mushroom or spinach base. The spicy red sauce is a bit too spicy for me so I always opt for the tomato basil with no parm. And they always have a starter salad that i can usually eat asking to leave off the parm. The staff are nearly all related, the owner makes frequent appearances and always welcomes me with a warm smile. They are all kind and genuine. We try to eat here once a week. Occasionally they do vegan ravioli but I haven't had, bc im gf, but my daughter loves them! I believe they are opening a 2nd location as well. Great for date night or intimate family dinner. They will also accommodate larger parties with reservations.

Wonderful fresh pasta - Edit
Second time here and just as good. Several vegan options and tofu as protein option on salad. The ravioli was filled with cashew cheese and spinach in a delightful olive oil saute. They even bring out Nooch for topping.

Perfect little Italian restaurant - Edit
This cute family style restaurant is tucked away in a quieter part of town. It’s menu is classic but has great vegan options. Just mention you’re vegan and you’ll be well fed. Home made vegan pasta options along with incredible cheeses made from scratch. Mozzarella is amazing and cashew based. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable about their vegan offerings. Chef Paolo is a huge fan of eating plant based and just won top chef in the Reno Vegan Chef Challenge.
Read moreThey also have meal kits ready to go so you can purchase your pasta, raviolis and sauces to take with you.
Available at the local Riverside Farmers Market or in the restaurant.
Pros: Home made fresh vegan cheeses, Vegan pastas and sauce, Vegan raviolis on rotation with new flavors
Cons: $ a bit pricey but so are cashews!

Amazing Italian vegan 3 course meal! - Edit
Pasta Fresca rocked the Reno Vegan Chef Challenge this past January taking home Chef of the Year and Best Vegan Pasta awards. This hidden gem offers an intimate dining experience and will not disappoint. They also sell their pasta and sauces to-go and at the local farmers market. I enjoyed the delicious vegan Caprese Salad and the house-made cashew mozzarella cheese was amazing. I had the truffle mushroom vegan ravioli and vegan chocolate cannoli for dessert. (They also offered Chocolate and Pistachio - Cocoa Cake filled with Pistachio cream served with a scoop of vegan vanilla ice cream during the challenge as well). You may have to ask for these items by request now that the chef challenge has ended, but their menu is clearly marked with vegan options and most dishes can be made to accommodate vegan preferences upon request. Definitely worth checking this spot out! The only thing I wish they offered was vegan parmesan cheese as I'm not a huge fan of using plain nutritional yeast on my pasta.

Cons: Nutritional yeast is used as vegan parmesan
