Very average and kind of bland. - Edit
The only good about this place is that the staff was very nice.

Cool concept - Edit
Really like that one gets to try new vegan dishes here before they get released everywhere else. The noodle salad was a bit disappointing but everything else I’ve had there so far is just so so good.

Tofu Katsu Curry but served meat also - Edit
I really rate the service and atmosphere here but unfortunately I was served meat dumplings instead of veg. They only realised when I questioned the fact.
Read moreThey were kind about the mix up and discounted the bill, but pretty unforgivable.
Pros: Great tasting food
Cons: Served me meat

It was ok - Edit
I went there with a friend and we tried some of the permanent menu vegan dishes: the gyoza (dumplings), the baos and the vegatsu. The dumplings were easily my favorite: full of flavour with a nice texture. The baos were good, but I thought they were expensive for what you get. The vegatsu was ok. I have tasted vegan katsu curry in Japan before, and this was nothing like it. Why did they put lettuce in this dish? Also, there's too much rice and the curry is too liquidy. The seitan katsu was good, but overall it was a disappointing dish.
Read moreDefinitely there's some room for improvement, but I do love that they offer a variety of vegan options.
Pros: Variety of vegan options, Great location
Cons: Some menu items are expensive, Inconsistent food

Opportunity to provide feedback - Edit
I generally check beforehand to see what vegan options are on test because it varies depending on the test menu. I really like that as a test kitchen for new products they are really interested in your feedback. I'm always pleased when a dish I've enjoyed here makes it on to the main Wagamama menu.
Read moreIt's a really central location, and service is generally efficient.
Pros: Efficient service, Opportunity to provide feedback , Central location
Cons: Not all veg*an, Number of vegan options on test varies

Finally a decent vegan menu! - Edit
We have been to Wagamamas Noodle Lab on Dean St multiple times. Noodle Lab is where they create new dishes including a vegan menu and get customer feedback before they roll it out across Wagamamas Nationwide. Plus side it is good value I had the vegatsu, ongiri, bao buns with mushrooms and the other with panko aubergine and asian slaw, edamame for starters & chocolate tart for desert which was a complete let down. the bao buns were the best thing & on the few occasions I do visit Wags the rice always comes out cold which they rectify quickly.

Loads of vegan items - Edit
Delicious food & great service! The only problem with this place is that the menu items change regularly so if you love something it may not be there when you go back. Highlights this visit were a collaborative dish with Cook Daily which was an awesome curry noodle dish with bits of coconut "bacon", the beetroot onigiri and the steamed buns with mushrooms & aubergine. I could eat those buns every day for the rest of my life & be happy. They had three vegan ice creams as well but I wasn't too keen on the weird flavour combos. I had hazelnut and rose and although the texture was great, the taste was not. Yorica is a 3 minute walk away so I'd suggest going there for your dessert fix. The service was friendly, professional and very knowledgeable about dietary requirements. I thoroughly recommend this place.

Meh - Edit
So excited for the seitan Katsu curry but it was so disappointing. The seitan was soggy and mushy. Hoping it was just a bad batch but I don’t know if I’d risk it again

Vegatsu - Edit
Great to see that they are trying this out in the lab but why does it take so long to have it in the main restaurants, vegan options are good but they need to do better

awesome!!! - Edit
Had the sticky seitan which was incredible! Husband had the vegatsu which was out of this world. Kids had the kasai noodle bowl which they loved. The service was top notch throughout the entire meal, some of the best service I’ve ever had. Highly recommend!

Vegan menu very interesting - Edit
The new vegan things on the menu here are great. I opted for the pumpkin for a starter (nice but small for price) and the special cook daily collaboration fried noodles for the main (nice but very small portion). Unfortunately they were out of the chocolate cake for desert but the matcha cake was light and fluffy.
Read moreIf I came back I would go for the seitan katsu curry (and sub the rice for soba noodles like the guy next to me did... genius).
The staff were really lovely and it's cool to see what they're experimenting with. Just disappointed by the portion size to price ratio.
Pros: Taste and variety, Staff and atmosphere, Location
Cons: Price, Out of some things

needs some improvement - Edit
I appreciate expanding the vegan range available at Wagamama but I was still recovering from the amount of salt in the seitan katsu curry the following day! Also, one of the orders was forgotten so didn’t end up eating until the rest of us were already done. They were very apologetic and didn’t charge for that particular but we’d have rather it just didn’t happen in the first place.

Tasty seitan katsu - Edit
The kitchen forgot our order so we sat for ages with no food. However when it arrived it was really yummy! Seitan katsu curry which my omni husband said was better than the chicken :)

No no no - Edit
I am a big fan of Asian cuisine. And I know it can be salty, but [censored] these noodles were inedible. The broth was so salty after two sips we threw our bowls out. I appreciate the vegan options and the quick service but please stop with the salt.

Cons: Salt is the only flavour
