The sizzling Sisig was delicious. I added a vegan fried egg and garlic rice and it was perfect, along with some samba oeleck to spice things up. Great service too.

Good food, bad service - Edit
I've been going to this restaurant for sometime now. Brought lots of friend here too. While their service is not consistently good, it's never been horrible til today. Their food is really good.
Read moreAt around 12, we walked in and there's toys, napkins, cups and mess on the floor because the owner's daughter is in play mode. Cute little girl though.
I asked for a table for 9 and we were seated on the back. While the table was being set, the little girl was interviewing us asking questions about where the other people are and why they're not here yet. We asked her if she wanted to go back to play with her toys, but said she wants to stay with us instead. The waitress and her dad leaves us with her for a few minutes. I went to the washroom (no hand towels/napkins) to wash my hands and I come back to find the little girl still at our table playing with our table setting now. I walk up to the waitress and ask if there's a reason why the little girl is with us unattended sitting on our table and she says "well she's the owner's daughter." I said I haven't seen my friends in a while and would really like if we didn't have to tend to the owner's daughter at the same time. No apologies.
Waitress picks up the little girl. Dad/owner walks up to me and said "I'm sorry if my daughter offended you. I've never had a customer say bad things about my daughter being here before and she's always here. We're leaving now." I said his daughter didn't offend me and told him I think his daughter is really cute but I came here to eat and meet with friends. He says "well if you don't like kids, don't come here next time."
Pros: Full Vegan menu, Good filipino flavor
Cons: Poor service, Cleanliness, Expensive

Amazing vegan Filipino - Edit
The Filipino food at Nick’s is incredible. I’m not familiar with Filipino outside of having been here, but a close friend from the Philippines confirms that it is reasonably authentic.
Read moreMy favorites are the Sisig (kinda like a griddled hash), Sinigang (sour soup with veggies), and Laising (creamy stewed tarot leaves — definitely get some garlic rice with it).
There are also a bunch of American/Bistro offerings like hamburgers and mac and cheese, but I’ve never ordered any.
Pros: Everything is vegan, Filipino food is amazing
Cons: Expensive (but totally worth it)

Vegan Gem in South San Francisco - Edit
The much anticipated sibling restaurant of Nick's Kitchen in Daly City finally opened its doors recently in South San Francisco. This side of town was in dire need of a vegan eatery, and they exceeded expectations.
Read moreNick's on Grand delivers vegan fare with flair. The upscale resto/bar has date vibe written all over it. One can easily notice the ambient glow of the handmade lighting that enhances the warmth of the rustic brick walls flanking the main dining area, giving the room a softer, more inviting ambience. For a more casual feel, the back patio with heat lamps are ideal for families with kids.
Nick's formula of Filipino and American vegan fare has been proven to be wildly successful at their original location. There are some differences here and there, so it's still worth visiting both locations.
Foodwise, let's begin with the mandatory Pinoy dish of Lumpia Shanghai with sweet sauce which is one of their more popular dishes. Our personal favorite is Nick's Laing, a savory concoction of taro leaves cooked in coconut milk, best paired with a steaming cup of rice. On alternate nights, we like to order the hearty Monggo or mung bean stew, along with Pancit (this is a great combo, by the way).
For American fare, the Succulent Jackfruit Ribs and the Tuna Melt (made with chickpeas and topped with vegan cheese) are both winners. Order this with the classic comfort food of their tasty oven-baked Mac and Cheez, and your tummy will thank you.
For breakfast, don't miss the Corned Beef Silog, a savory meal of "beef" hash with potatoes, garlic rice and fried "egg". Check for Ube Pancakes that are sometimes available on the weekend. This is a must try!
Daily specials on the board range from French Onion Soup, Tomato Soup to Mushroom Burger and Breakfast Sausage Sandwich.
As for desserts, yes they have the iconic all time favorite Halo-Halo, the ultimate Filipino treat that is so Instagrammable with its vibrant colors and smorgasbord of many flavors. But don't miss out on their other sweets like Panna Cotta and Leche Flan which are both creamy and delicious. The Peach Mango Pie is the one that is dearest to our hearts because of its buttery flaky pastry and subtly sweet filling. Yum!
Reina and Kenny are the true stars of this place as they built it from the ground up, cemented it with love, and cooked from their hearts. Make sure you say hello to this lovely couple when you visit Nick's. We're so glad to have such a gem in South City!
Pros: Great Filipino and American Fare, Friendly Staff, Nice Vibe
