Our go to Lebanese restaurant in Portland

The vegan meza is consistently delicious and the fresh pita is incredible! Not a lot of options for vegans but what they have is delicious.

wonderful vegan Middle Eastern cuisine

Nicholas Restaurant is an amazing experience. I am a fan of Middle Eastern cuisine. I think they do wonderful vegan cuisine. I spent six weeks backpacking around the Middle East and have always been a fan of this cuisine.

Nicholas Restaurant clearly marks what is vegan for their vegan options. On arrival you get a giant piece of pita bread that has been freshly made and warm it comes with dipping EVOO aka extra virgin olive oil.

There were two vegan bowls on offer for lunchtime either the vegetarian mezzo bowl or the roasted veggie bowl. I went with the former that includes hummus, falafel, tahini, tabouli, and majadra.

All of it was delicious. The service here was very friendly. They were busy with good reason. They also have numerous awards from the Willamette Weekly and for good reason.

Worth checking out!

Pros: wonderful vegan Middle Eastern cuisine, very friendly service, fresh as you can imagine pita bread

Marvelous Mezza

I could eat just the unlimited hot pita, but we ordered Zaatar Fries (house-cut fries tossed in zaatar and served with harissa sauce) and the Arabian Breeze Mezza. The mezza provides a mix of foods (hummus, muhamara, caramelized onions mixed with tahini, majadra, fried cauliflower, and falafel) and is big enough to share. My partner dropped one of the falafels on the floor, and the server generously gave us two more and a dish of hummus for free! Everything was delicious.

Tip: Park in a signed Nicholas Restaurant customer parking space to avoid paying.

Pros: clearly-marked vegan options, free pita bread, outdoor seating

Cons: too full to eat baklava

Yummy and clearly marked

Their pita bread was to die for, they had many vegan options, and everything is clearly marked as vegan and gluten free. We love that! It’s a great place to bring non-vegans as well!

Solid!

Well done Lebanese-style mediterranean fare with clearly marked vegan dishes. Baba ghanoush, Tabbouleh, and Dolmas are very tasty and balanced. Falafel is pretty good. Freshly made giant pita arrives steaming at your table. Friendly, attentive service.

The food here is always so delicious and now their menu specifically calls out the vegan options. The veggie kabobs even came with two vegan sauce options — toum and tahini.

Unlimited pita!

The pita was really good and the hummus and baba ganoush were also great. The falafel was just fine and the grape leaves were meh.

Fabulous

Sometimes the best food comes out of the smallest restaurants. I will come back to eat here again and again.
