Great chinese takeaway option for Gillingham area - Edit
The food prices are higher than some other local takeaways, but I believe the food quality is higher.
Read moreThere are several vegetarian options available, that has allowed my family to now have a fully vegetarian/vegan chinese takeaway. I'm not sure whether the dishes marked vegetarian is fully vegan, or just vegetarian, but it feels as though it might be vegan since the egg noodles are replaced with wholewheat noodles.
Assuming they are all vegan, we had a fully vegan chinese last night. We went for mock-chicken fried rice, mock-chicken chow mein, mock-chicken satay, vegetable spring rolls, salt & pepper chilli chips, sweet and sour mock-chicken, singapore noodles, and hofan noodles.
One nice touch: if your order is fully vegan/vegetarian and is eligible for free prawn crackers as part of the order, then they throw in an extra pack of vegetable spring rolls instead. This was a really nice and unexpected bonus.
This is now my family's favourite chinese in our area and is our go-to option. My non-vegan parents love the vegan meals, so it's helped reduce our household's meat content further.

The mock chicken dishes here are great, the chicken satay is exactly how I remember it being so definitely recommend that.

Best Chinese takeaway we've found - Edit
This takeaway has a really good range of meat alternatives so there is huge choice there and all delicious. They also swap egg noodles for rice in the chow main if you ask and tweak things slightly for vegans. Really good 👍

Great Chinese Food - Edit
I’ve been back in my hometown for lockdown and I’ve really missed getting the occasional takeout. I just assumed there wouldn’t be any good vegan takeout food near me- then I checked the HappyCow app and was glad I was wrong 😊 The mock chicken chow mien and satay from here were both super tasty! Plus free spring rolls (also great!) - definitely going to come back here again!

Best Chinese for vegans I've ever had - Edit
Wish I'd found this sooner. Feels SO good to tuck into a proper Chinese again. The mock chicken is great (our favourite is the satay and black bean). We always specify vegan when we order online in the comments box. Food is always delivered quick and hot. Absolutely love it.

Our fave local vegan takeaway! - Edit
We adore this place! Their mock meat is brilliant and majority of their veggie stuff is vegan, but we always just clarify in the comments box that we’re vegan when we order online. They are really lovely and give free veggie spring rolls in place of free prawn crackers which is great! We rarely get takeaway but go out of our way to come here!! The mock duck pancakes are amazing, as are the mock chicken satay skewers, the mock chicken fried rice and mock chicken chow mein. Can’t recommend enough!!

Wish I'd found New Happy Palace years ago! - Edit
I usually only use Happy Cow when I'm travelling, but I've been so bored with lockdown for so long, I decided to look for something new. I ordered mock duck and mock chicken fried rice. Way too much food for me, enough for 2 meals. Very happy customer. I'll definitely be back.

I really enjoy ordering from this takeaway! The food we’ve had so far has been super yummy. I can’t wait to try out more of their dishes. It’s so nice to have a local takeaway offering vegan dishes! And if you ask nicely they’ll swap the prawn crackers for something that’s vegan. Quick delivery and reasonable prices.

Ordered from here after coming across the page on JustEat. Surprised that gillingham has a takeaway that offers meat substitutes other than just tofu! (Nothing wrong with that of course!)

Very helpful staff when I phoned them and the delivery driver was very nice too. They even threw in a free bottle of drink for us too!

Read moreFound this place through my local vegan Facebook group as so many vegans were raving about it.
Have to say it lived up to the hype!
So many vegan options, mock meats in different sauces, rice and vegan noodles and spring rolls too.
They offer free delivery if you're lucky enough to be in the catchment area, if not its collection only.
We collected today and the waiting time for the food was around 10 mins (20 mins max on the website) so depends how busy they are.
Excellent friendly service, happy to answer all of my many questions re the menu :)
This will be a new regular haunt for me now :)
Pros: lots of choice, not expensive at all, great service and quick !
