Runcorn’s Most Convincing Portal to the Mediterranean - Edit
Where do I begin? Neptune’s Greek Grill delivered on every front — the food was absolutely amazing, portions were generous (no leaving hungry here), and the service was impressively fast. As someone who eats plant-based, I was genuinely pleased to find a few solid vegan options on the menu. Bravo.
Now, the Gyros. Incredible. Also: a facial experience. By the time we’d finished, we looked like we’d been in some kind of delicious accident. There’s no dignified way to eat one and I respect that entirely.
A highlight of the evening was an unexpectedly passionate debate triggered by the arrival of our Cokes — in glass bottles, naturally — about the definitive correct vessel for serving Coca-Cola. Tin can? Plastic? Glass? McDonald’s cup? We didn’t resolve it, but the discussion was riveting and the Coke tasted better for it.
The Greek Cherry drink was an absolute triumph. No notes.
The atmosphere genuinely transported us — warm, vibrant, and authentically Mediterranean… right up until we stepped back outside into Runcorn Old Town and reality gently reintroduced itself.
