Great pan-fried buns

After checking out Wenchang Temple and Nantun Market around the corner, my friend and I stopped in for breakfast on a Sunday. The pan-fried buns were delicious, even to my omni friend. If you order it spicy, the staff will poke a hole in the side of the bun and inject it with hot sauce (although the sauce wasn’t very spicy). There are several different flaky savory pancake options on the wall opposite the counter: Chinese toon, seaweed, curry, Thai basil, and whole wheat. I ordered mine with Thai basil. The herb flavor wasn’t as strong as I’d hoped, but I appreciated the texture of the pancake. The cold black soy bean milk came in a plastic cup and with a plastic straw and was sweetened. The staff was really patient and answered my inquiry about which menu items were vegan or veganizable. They only have disposable chopsticks, so BYO if you’re into minimizing waste. They take cash payment at the counter after you’re finished eating. Not a bad spot for veg*n breakfast items at an affordable price in this area.

Pros: affordable, fast and friendly service, tasty

Cons: short hours, disposable utensils and cups, vegan items aren’t clearly marked
