Located on the Teramachi-dori covered shopping street. Enter through the Mumokuteki lifestyle store and go up to the 2nd floor. Has table, counter and armchair seating, plus a spacious area for families with children. Lunch is served all afternoon. Last order is 1 hour before closing. Open Mon-Tue 11:30am-7:00pm, Thu-Sun 11:30am-7:00pm. Closed Wed.

Good restaurant, better desserts! - Edit
This is a good lunch and dinner restaurant with classic Japanese cuisine. They have a great omurice and curry. The menu is a bit limited but what they have is full of flavour. The desserts are amazing with loads of strawberry’s and tiramisu.

Mumokuteki café & foods Kyoto - Edit
Looooove this place! One of my most favorite vegan place in Japan, Mumokuteki offers a diverse menu with amazing flavors. Their Gozen set meals include a main, side dishes, miso soup, and rice. I have to admit, the main set really caught my eye in the photos! Overall, I'm pretty happy with my experience at Mumokuteki.
Read moreI ordered the ¥2,200 set, which lets you try all 3 types of plant-based meat alternatives. The set was good overall, although the main "hamburger steak" was a bit underwhelming. The cutlets were everything. Some of the side dishes were a little too bitter for my taste. I also found it a it small, if you're hungry I suggest you add a little to get a large portion of rice.
For dessert, I had the seasonal melon parfait. It was quite expensive—almost as much as the main course—but it was absolutely delicious.
The atmosphere of the restaurant was lovely: very calm, with lots of wood and a touch of greenery. It also seems like there's a café and a small shop attached to the restaurant.
Staff was nice and helpful.

Very highly recommend if you're looking for something vegan in Kyoto, this is a must visit!

We ordered the set meals which overall were very nice. The karrage and cutlets were great but the burger was a bit disappointing. Good selection of foods overall.
Read morePart of the reason we came was because the desserts were highly recommended. However we were really disappointed in what we got. The tiramasu was fine, but quite dense. The cheesecake was far far too cheesy and felt like eating a block cheddar.

I had traditional omurice here and it was fantastic!! The staff are so welcoming and really know their stuff. You can tell they’re passionate about the food they make. My friend had a huge platter of different items and so we shared a few things. It was incredible I miss the omurice so much🤣❤️❤️

It was difficult to find at first. The first floor is a clothes shop, and the stairs are inside to get to the second floor. I tried the egg dish, it was different and more like a liquid than an omelet, but the sauce it came with was delicious. It was very filling. My dad got the Dan Dan Sichuan ramen, which he said was some of his favorite so far on our trip. I also went for the strawberry tart for dessert, which was fine but not amazing. My dad got the coffee ice cream float because we saw someone else order it. It is very picturesque. It was also fun to explore the clothing shop on the first floor and basement, which have a lot of used clothing.

Read moreGeschmacklich war alles sehr rund und überraschend abwechslungsreich – nicht nur „healthy“, sondern wirklich befriedigend. Besonders die Kombination aus verschiedenen kleinen Beilagen, Reis und Hauptgericht macht das Essen zu einem kompletten, stimmigen Erlebnis.
Das Ambiente ist angenehm hell und modern, und obwohl es zentral liegt, wirkt es oben im Café ruhig und entspannt. Genau der richtige Ort für eine Pause mitten im Stadttrubel.
Insgesamt: ein sehr zuverlässiger Spot in Kyoto, zu dem man gut auch ein zweites Mal gehen kann

I got the karaage set. The fake meat did not taste good, the salad was mediocre. Some of the pickled items were nice. The sweets they gave me tasted like sugar cubes with no other flavor added.
