Great place

Located a minute from my hotel, I was fortunate to not have to run around rainy Hanoi for good vegan food, I went twice in three days. Don't hesitate to go.

comfy relaxing place out of the hectic streets.

We had such a wonderful time at this place that we went back again instead of finding a new place to eat. If we were not leaving Hanoi tomorrow i would go back again. Great food, delicious Pho and wonderful staff. Best place we ate in Hanoi in our 5 days here.

Pros: excellent staff, great food and well priced.

Cons: would have been nice to have a banh my on the menu

Better options available around town

This place has a nice decor and nice staff. The menu contains the a mix of traditional Vietnamese dishes: rice/vermicelli noodles w/salad, noodle soups, clay pot vegetable dishes and fruity salads; a number of poorly executed western dishes like small pizza, bland soups, dry burgers and tiny sandwiches. There are a number of fruit smoothies, teas and coffees that you can enjoy in a pretty quiet and slightly classy setting.

The kicker is, none of the food is very good. It's either greasy, bland, undersized or a combination of the three. If you pay the same price at other nearby veg restaurants, you'll be sent to gastronomic heaven... or spend less and still get superior food.

I hate to be a negative Nancy, but the hygiene could easily be improved as well.

Pros: Nice staff, good interior, convenient for many tourists

Cons: uninspiring food, over priced, low hygiene

I can't believe the rubbish you have written. greasy, bland undersized or combo. Name one nearby veg restaurant that is better.
I am very critical of bad service and not good vegan food. I have eaten at both Minh Chays and found them both very good. The price is more than the loving hut style but u get msg free food. Quality is better sourced. Loving hut u get what u pay for. Like to know who u have as a place that's serves better food.

Can't complain about the food, fresh and very tasty. Funny how they brand themselves as a vegan chain when they sell "Da lat milk"

Pros: wide range of foods

Cons: a bit expensive

Delicious and good price

Vietnameese food is so good, the western could be better. I am not a big fan off the cheese, it needs salt.
Good cheap prices, lovely atmosphere, staff and music.
My favorite dish is the "snail" pho noodles :)
Defenetly worth a visit!

Bland food..

restaurant serves too much mock meat which is full of additives and msg. Not heathy at all.
Pizza was terrible and too expensive. Dishes are not well presented like images shown on their website (see my photos in their gallery above) but the biggest problem is that you get not what you have paid for.
Will never come back. Beurk

Pros: Location

Cons: awful food , terrible , mock meat is being promoted here as Heathy Food??

Tasty

We came here for lunch today. I had the spring rolls and they were so tasty. Not just noodles like a lot of places. They were so fresh and crispy and full of veggies.
My partner had the vegan BBQ beef sandwich and to be honest I was a bit sceptical about the fake beef but it was really good. The seasoning was delicious. It came with chips and salad and the dressing on the salad was soooo yummy.
Would go back if we had time to try more of the menu.
The staff were very friendly and the restaurant itself was clean and felt friendly ?

Slightly more expensive but still cheaper than western vegan food would typically be back home! Has a nice Vietnamese feel to it also, the fresh rice paper rolls are delicious and the lemon grass mushrooms are insane. Staff super cute and friendly and nice aesthetic going on

absolutely fabulous

I was lucky enough to be staying at the hostel across from Minh Chay so I ate there daily. I don't eat wheat, so they were great about changing some of their dishes to suit me. Everything was delicious but the snail soup (wheat free) was very unique!

Excellent vegan restaurant tucked away near Hoan Kiem lake!

We stumbled upon this place quite serendipitously on our way to a restaurant that had some veggie options--we saw a sign for a vegan restaurant right next to the St Joseph Cathedral. We decided to follow it, and I'm so glad we did!

My husband and I shared the fried spring rolls, the vegan snail soup, and a sandwich with fries. I got passionfruit juice, and he got coffee. Everything was TRULY excellent. This is non-pretentious but thoughtful and delicious food. It's expensive, but we were incredibly satisfied with every single plate. It's not a place to eat every day if you're on a budget, but well worth a visit.

The staff was very friendly and helpful, and the restaurant is cute and quiet. It's got a modern-yet-rustic vibe in a casual way, not a hipster try-hard way.

This is one of my favorite fully-vegan restaurants I've ever been to. Top 5 for sure!

Pros: Excellent food, Good portions, Friendly, helpful staff

Cons: Expensive (but worth it now and then)

good

I wanted a snack, not a full lunch. I chose the mushrooms with lemongrass. This tasted very fresh and flavourfull. Nice looking place too, very modern. Friendly staff.

Really good pho!

Really great fake beef pho. Wonderful flavours and really close to a good meat pho (from memory). Ordered a pizza which was pretty terrible but that's probably my fault for ordering vegan pizza in Vietnam. The faux cheese was really sweet and had the texture of whipped cream. Wasn't too cheap but overall not a bad experience.

Pros: great pho!

Cons: terrible pizza, a bit pricey

Delicious

Had the Pho and both fried and fresh rolls. Feeling a bit jet lagged this was a very welcome, fresh and tasty meal. Location is good near St Joseph's Cathedral and away from the busy streets. Service was great with English menu.

Pros: Wide choice and fresh

Pho-nomenal

The pho was extremely delicious! Tasted pretty close to regular pho and they've somehow managed to mimic the texture of the 'beef' quite well. Staff are really friendly too and the atmosphere is cosy.

Fine, nothing amazing

The restaurant looks nice, the service is good. Ordered the rice rolls which I liked but my companions found boring. The lemongrass mushroom just tasted like ginger, really strong. The fried mushroom tasted fried, which is something it had going for it, but not much more to say than that. The black sesame milk was good.

Pros: Nice decor

Cons: Only ok food

amazing coffee and pho!

Very cute place right next to the cathedral. Trusted previous comments and stuck to Vietnamese food - the pho was amazing as was the coffee. Best vegan meal in Hanoi so far!

flavorful

The dish I ordered (aubergines cooked with sesame seeds) was very tasteful. I loved it. Just to mention that I had to order rice for 10k with it (it was not included and not written in the menu).
The cashew nut milk I had at the end was also very good. I asked without sugar, it was just perfect.
The only thing I can complain about is the prices, but I guess this is not the same quality as the other chay restaurants I usually go to.

Fab Pap, how can you compare Minh Chay with 'Bo De Quan'? ' The only thing I can complain about is the prices, but I guess this is not the same quality as the other chay restaurants I usually go to'. You can complain about prices. But Bo De Quan quality is not in the same league as Minh Chay. Food which is prepared hours before and is left exposed and on display to the air environment, people breathing over the food, is certainly not conducive to ones health. Minh Chay is served a la carte much healthier. You pay for what you get.

@veganvirtues That's exactly what I meant by "I guess this is not the same quality as the other chay restaurant I usually go to." because I often eat at cheap chay places, which are really good, but this restaurant is definitely on an other level and I'm not comparing.
