Favorite spot in Te Anau - Edit
really wonderful staff and great options. I really loved the dahl pie. My non-vegan partner said these pies are the best he had in NZ (i didn’t have as many opportunities to try pies). The vegan cinnamon roll was good, though very sticky so be mindful! The overnight oats with rotating flavors were great— i tried both raspberry and chocolate coconut. I think there was a ready-to-go vegan bowl in the cooler, too. We will miss this place! It’s so cute and wonderful. The gift shop is great, too.

Yummy treats - Edit
Another one heading to Milford Sound. Our group tour had lunch plans at another location. I went for the cinnamon roll here. So good!

We stopped in here on our way to Milford Sound and so glad we did!
Read moreThey make the best, gooeyest cinnamon scrolls I’ve ever had, along with a yummy dahl pie, a few other extra things like cookies and then there’s also interesting bits and pieces you can get like chocolate, sauces etc.
Made sure to stop again on the way back the other direction for more cinny scrolls

Vegan Dahl pie doesn’t disappoint! - Edit
I maybe agree with other reviews saying this could be the best vegan pie in NZ! Granted I only tried a couple but this was by far the best. Flaky pastry and a delicious dahl filling. When we came this was the only vegan option apart from a vegan/GF chocolate cookie which I didn’t rate that highly (just pretty dry and crumbly, usual GF stuff).

Pros: Amazing vegan Dahl pie, Cute cafe + gift shop
Cons: Very few vegan options, Only one table inside, some benches outside

Small Selection, Very Good - Edit
NZ is known for their hot pies, and their vege dahl hot pie is actually vegan. Very good, had it 3 days in a row. The vegan double choco cookie is also amazing. Sadly, the vegan cinnamon roll was not worth it. Very cosy place with friendly staff. Hot beverages with alternative milks are nice on cold/rainy days.
