This duck has a lot to Quack about - Edit
I am a big duck lover so naturally the name caught our eyes. Sad to see they serve duck😒They have a vegan menu with over 6 options, found the prices to be reasonable. Dumplings were great 👍 Vegan burgers were alright, dumplings stole the show. There is also a gnocchi, jackfruit dish, and a handful of sides on offer. I think it’s worth a visit!

Great - Edit
Only a couple of main options for dinner but the gnocchi was really really tasty. Very nice dessert coconut rice pudding with pineapple, and smokey jackfruit wontons for starter.

Food is good but menu needs some work - Edit
Dedicated vegan menu but with only a handful of options. I had the pumpkin gnocchi, which I loved. My husband had the vegan burger, which was fine, but had a hash brown as a replacement for the patty - unusual but he didn't mind!
Read moreThe bar snacks looked ok, but everything seemed to be very mushroom-heavy! Feel like it wouldn't take a lot to do some non-mushroom-based foods!
Otherwise, service is swift, staff are great and there's a good range of drinks.
Pros: Dedicated vegan menu, Good service
Cons: But expensive for what you get

Separate vegan menu, food okay - Edit
Had the potato gnocchi it was expensive for the portion. There was nothing wrong just not my thing very basic and disappointed as expected them to have more knowledge with having a separate menu. Left hungry and decided not to have anything else.

Quite plain - Edit
Great that they offer a vegan menu but sadly the items I picked off it were sub-par. The pumpkin gnocchi was overcooked and served without the kumara and chickpeas mentioned on the menu, meaning it was just a plate of gnocchi covered in what tasted like simply diced tomatoes from a can.
Read moreThe onion rings were much too oil heavy, even for a deep fried food, and made my stomach turn eating them. I told them and they took the price of the onion rings off my bill, which still came to $44 with a glass of wine and public holiday surcharge. Not worth anywhere near this kinda money seeing as I left half the food on the plate😒The servers never came back to check on me so I had no opportunity to ask for the food to be fixed/replaced.
Pros: Vegan menu
Cons: Lacking flavour, Inattentive servers, Not cheap

A good option - Edit
Was a treat after three days on the Kepler track. Got the vegan burger - note that it doesn’t have any actual burger patty in it, just a hash brown and some other veggies. Chips were good too.
Read moreI liked it more than the Ranch, I’m not leaving a review for them but if I was choosing between the two I’d go here.

Salt bomb - Edit
Shared the Bread & Dips, Dumplings, and Roasted Root Vegetables. Everything but the latter was super salty. Decent service

Pretty pricey lunch - Edit
Service was lovely, food was ok (bit too much fat for our taste).
Read moreLess crowded then other places.
WIFI available, seems to have a limitation.
All in all ok, consider though that this is a tourist spot and prices are accordingly.

Had the vegan gnocchi which was really nice. Pretty basic, simple and a bit expensive, but yum and filling.

Pretty good - Edit
Pretty good for a pub meal - the burger was a couple of hashbrowns with vegan cheese and lettuce in a nice bun. The gnocchi was a good time but $10 for a small side of roast veges was a bit steep.

Separate vegan menu available - Edit
Ask for the separate vegan menu. There is a variety of starters, mains and a couple of desserts. We tried the thrice-cooked chips with Bloody Mary sauce (yum), the veggie dumplings (yum), the side salad (definitely a side, not as big as I had hoped) and the jackfruit tacos, which were nice. Really keen to try the pumpkin gnocchi next time. Also this place can get busy - we were lucky to get a table in the bar, so book in advance if you know you’re going to visit.

Very nice! - Edit
I really enjoyed my meal here (vegan gnocchi followed by chocolate mudcake dessert)! Nice atmosphere, staff were polite, and we were also asked for honest feedback on the vegan options at the end as they are keen to improve their menu for vegan clientele. I'd certainly recommend visiting this place and trying their vegan menu (surprised there were so many options!) and also giving them feedback because they're interested to hear from us

Awesome option - Edit
Not a ton of options in this little town. Separate vegan menu with starters, mains and desserts. Gnocchi, mushroom risotto and vegan burger with vegan cheese and vegan aioli were all awesome. Add in happy hour from 3-6 and outdoor live music and this place deserves 5 stars! (But of course only gets 4 since it’s not fully vegan)

Vegan Menu - Edit
You need to ask for their vegan menu - had their burger and fries and salad - all were great, presented well and quite tasty although did find they the burger was too tall to eat, had to use knife/fork. Good or bad thing...you decide. Also, don’t know what it is about Kiwi fries but they are AWESOME! I try to stay away from fried foods but there fries are addicting - not just here...everywhere in NZ!
