We had an amazing four course meal at this beautiful restaurant. All the food is thoughtfully prepared and presented and they cook with seasonal ingredients. The decor is lovely and the wine was great. We will definitely be back.

I expected a living room but this is a proper restaurant that serves good food, lots of vegetables. Not the regular vegan burger joint! Friendly staff and owners. I will def come back.

Good things take time they say - Edit
Nice restaurant off the beaten track. Booking ahead recommended, actually pretty necessary - at least when we dined here on a Saturday night there was no empty table. While I appreciate that guests are not rushed through the courses, the wait and gaps between courses were too long for us. We didn’t get our main until 90 minutes after the reservation-since it’s a set menu, I hadn’t anticipated that. Unfortunately, one of the adjustments wasn’t made by the kitchen, but due to the long wait we had to decline the offer to getting a new side made up. Would come here again if I was looking for dinner to be the night’s activity.

Wonderful experience - Edit
I have been here twice and was never disappointed. The dishes are wonderful, made with the freshest sessional ingredients and nicely presented. You can choose a 3, 4 or 5-course vegan menu. I would definitely recommend the smaller menu, just because the portions are big. Tonight I had a delicious red lentil soup, followed by pea-filled homemade ravioli, a nice concoction of winter and summer vegetables and a wonderful dessert made up of a very delicate chocolate mousse, red cherries in syrup, gingerbread crumble and caramel gelato.

Absolutely delicious - Edit
My favourite vegan meal in Amsterdam so far. Reasonably priced, fresh surprising ingredients, great wine, warm service. It’s stunning inside. The whole setup is brilliant, it’s a home but it’s still a restaurant and that way you feel like you are on a evening out. Great place to celebrate something. We loved the chickpea soup, have been trying to recreate it ever since. Thank you Marit, we will be back.

beautiful dishes, taste a little boring - Edit
A nice looking place with very friendly people. The food was good and looked stunning, however it tasted very "green". We would have appreciated some more spices or surprising ingredients. All in all fine, but not a place we would take a non-vegan friend to.

Spontaneous evening out, turned into a pleasant memory - Edit
We turned up without a reservation and was very lucky to be able to get a table in the (almost) full restaurant.
Read moreWe had no expectations (no reviews had been read prior to the visit) but got quite a surprise of the high level of the food. Especially the the cabbage soup and the ravioli.
The place is very charming and romantic. It add's to it that you are literally sitting in the owners living room.
Pros: Quality, Service, Atmosphere
Cons: A bit busy close to the kitchen

The owner was very (very!) unfriendly. Made that we only visited the place once instead of becoming regulars over there. Food was alright, very long waiting time in between.

Amazing vegan dining experience - Edit
We absolutely loved it! that evening they served celery soup, salad with spicy hazelnut, pumpkin ravioli, beans and roots and finally apple lemon cake with rosemary ice cream. All that was more complex in flavour than it looks written down here. It was a perfect balance of spicy, sweet, salty and bitter!

Delicious and Wonderful - Edit
My husband and I were visiting Amsterdam for a couple of nights. Prior to our visit we had researched vegetarian/vegan restaurants in the area, which we like to do when we visit a new city & country (using Happy Cow of course), and came across Marits Eetkamer and read reviews and read the concept about the restaurant online. We loved the idea that there is no menu, that it’s just based on what’s in season and the whims of the chefs. We made our reservations and went with the 5 course meal so that we could try all of the courses! We chose to stick with vegetarian. They can make a vegan menu if you let them know ahead of time.
Read moreIt was a wonderful evening of delicious food. Foods I would not normally try that I really enjoyed. For instance, I’m not a huge fan of brown mustard and I could barely taste it in the dish. The chefs just knew the right balance of ingredients to make the dishes pop. We loved the atmosphere, it felt like a house turned into a very comfy and cozy restaurant! Highly recommend going here if you are in the area! You do need to make reservations as there are not a lot of tables and it fills up rather quickly starting around 7pm or so!
And plan to spend at least 1 1/2 - 2 hours there because it takes a while in between dishes.
Pros: Excellent Vegetarian & Vegan Food, Cozy and quaint, Friendly

Accommodating for vegans - Edit
The food was beautifully prepared, fresh, and tasty. It is an elegant, upscale restaurant, so I don't really think it's overpriced. The staff was very friendly and accommodating for our vegan diet. I had an amazing dinner overall.

Creative food - Edit
My mother and I ventured to this lovely little restaurant when she was visiting me. I was presented with a mushroom soup which was decorated beautifully, but unfortunately was so peppery I couldn't even taste the mushroom. The main was yummy, but could have been better. Dessert was a beautiful chocolate mouse with pear made from silken tofu, which was genuinely delicious. Overall our experience was good, but some of the food was a let down especially as we had read others reviews saying it was the best food in Amsterdam. Generally the price you pay is way too much for what you are served. The fact you can't choose what you order keeps you on your toes and I think it's actually a good idea, but the standard of the food and experience let it down.

This restaurant in the east of Amsterdam is a "living room restaurant". The decor is lovely and it has a homely atmosphere. The food was inventive and wonderful. Very good quality ingredients. We had a great evening. Definately suitable for non vegetarians!

the best vegetarian in The Netherlsnds - Edit
We've enjoyed eating in many cities in vegetarian restaurants but the food here was the best we've had in The Netherlands.
Read moreThis delightful venue has chasing attentive staff, a lovely intimate atmosphere and good facilities.
They offer a four or three course seasonal menu.
The food is wonderful. We began with a pumpkin soup amuse booch.
Then a chicory salad with dried plums, blue cheese and many delicious flavours.
The ravioli with Jerusalem artichokes and fresh homemade pesto with home semi dried tomatoes was delicious.
The main course of homemade individual kale and porcini mushroom tarts with melted cheese, has a special potato cake, lentil and roast root vegetable salad and sprouts with chestnuts. The other accompaniment was leeks cooked in white wine that had a really good flavour.
There were many more lively details with every element. It was amazing food.
Pros: good service., lovely atmosphere and intimate decor., it's quiet and friendly.
Cons: it's a little tricky to find and off the beaten tr

Phenomenal - Edit
My wife and I ate at Marits a few weeks ago and it was a truly memorable experience; one we'll be repeating. The venue is very nice and is actually the owners home. She has a typically Amsterdam store-front apartment that is transformed into a cozy restaurant the evenings they serve dinner, Thurs. Fri. & Sat. only. Your actually in her living room. The main course is set, but you have options for the appetizer and dessert. They also offer a 4th course, but unless you are truly starving, don't even think about it. You will NOT leave hungry. The food was just phenomenal and would impress and satisfy anyone. Best of all, it's a real value. 30 euro for a dinner like that is a real find in Amsterdam. It's not the kind of place you'd go alone, and be sure you're with people you like as it's a true European dining experience and you'll be there for an hour and a half, easily. I recommend reservations and they start serving at 6pm.
