In the city center. Closed during low season, but the owner is here anyway - it is good to pay visit so that she knows that there is interest. Look for the sign outside the restaurant that says, "Treat animals kindly by not eating them." Open Mon-Sun 9:00am-9:00pm.

Treat AnimalsKindly By Not Eating Them restaurant

Atmospheric seating on second floor overlooking a neat alley with antique shops. Owner helpful and passionate about vegetarianism. Food was good. We had okra dish which was very good. They used to be owners of similar shop in Bagan which was sold and is now the Moon restaurant.

Nice place

Noodle soup was quite big portion or I wasn't that hungry. It was nice, tasty and fresh. Spring rolls were also good. It comes 10 pieces but really small size. Accept noodle soup other dishes seem not big. My friend ordered eggplant dish but it wasn't enough for him. Price was okay.

Very good!!

Was very happy with our dishes— great flavor. We got the green long bean dish and tofu curry— both excellent. Would definitely visit again. The ladies working there were very nice and even served us right at 9pm even though they were closed.

Pros: Friendly staff , good prices , nice covered outdoor dining area

Überbewertet

Das Lokal an sich ist schön und das Personal freundlich, aber das Essen an sich ist m.E. nicht sonderlich gut. In vielen Shan Lokalen gibt es besseres zu einem Viertel des Preises.

Excellent food friendly service a real oasis in a vegetarian de

Upstairs eating area cooler than street level this is tucked away up a small side street. Food is fresh with vegetables washed in boiling water to be safe. We had guacomole salad veg noodles cheese roti and fried vegetables. Fresh fruit juices. All was delicious

Pros: Wide menu excellent food

Vegan backpacker

Not a clue why this is rated so high. The price point is horrible considering what else you can find in the city. A tomato salad is 4000k, tomatoes... Ordered a tofu curry at 4000k and it was tomato and coconut milk soup swimming with what I can only assume is msg. Just baffled to be honest. Maybe a couple years ago this place was good, but for the price, quality and quantity this place is just flat out over rated. If you have options, skip it.

Pros: Chipatti bread was good at a normal 500k price

Cons: Price, quality (msg), quantity (for the price)

Vegans well catered for

Nice restaurant in an easy to find location. Grab driver knew the location.
Marina, one of the two lady owners has excellent English and was pleasant to chat to. The food was fresh and we didn’t have to wait long for it to come. Overall a nice place that we would visit again.

Pros: Good menu, Fresh Foods , Nice Service. English well understood

Yummy Veggie Food With Lots of Options

Great little vegetarian restaurant tucked away down a side street in Mandalay. Quick service, lots of choice and there was an English speaking member of staff who understood the term Vegan. We had 2 potato, tamarind and coconut milk curries, 2 rice, 2 chapatis and a plate of poppadoms. This all came to 13,000 Kyat (approx £6.50). Food was super yummy, came out hot and all at the same time. Would deffo head here if you’re looking for some great vegan/veggie food.

Pros: Vegan adaptations , Big portions

Amazing green bean salad ,-)

We went there for lunch on our first day in Mandalay. Friendly and helpful staff. We don’t like onions, and they prepared everything without it. Good portions for a reasonable price. Everything was delicious, but we highly recommend the green bean salad. Besides, we liked that the vegetables in the curry weren’t cooked to death.

Pros: Lots of vegan options, Freshly prepared food, Friendly helpful staff

Good veggie place

Had a nice late lunch here. We really enjoyed the pumpkin curry and the stir fried tofu. Most items are vegan but double check with the staff. The place was clean and tidy and up on a rooftop down a quiet street. There is also good WiFi here.

Pros: Pure veggie, Vegan options, Good prices

Pleasantly Surprised

I think the chef must change regularly, because the reviews of this place are very inconsistent. However, I was pleasantly surprised with my meal. 5,000 kyat for Veggie-Tofu Coconut Curry, White Rice, and a large Chapati. The portion of curry was big and I was very full at the end of the meal. The curry was easily the best I’ve had in Myanmar (Ive had better Indian dishes).

I’ll certainly be back and would recommend the place if you’re vegan or veg!

Pros: Vegan options, Good portion sizes, Decent flavors

Cons: Don’t expect world class cuisine-you’re in Myanmr

Not great

All vegan options so that’s a pro, but the curries were bland like bad German vegetable soup (and that’s pretty bland!) Pretty good salads though

Pros: All vegan

Cons: Very, very bland curries

Good place in Mandalay

nepali restaurant was closed in evening. So i went to this place. Food was ok. They should improve the specialty of this meal. I had boiled potato and lentil soup which it tasted boring

Great dinner!

We had an amazing tea leaf salad and carrot salad. The vegetable and potato curry with coconut milk was also tasty. Great to have this vegetarian restaurant in Mandalay! The only weird thing was all those Jesus pictures in the restaurant. Aren’t Asians mostly Buddhists?! Whatever😁after dinner we went to the end of the street and crossed the street to the north, where we made a little walk along the water front. Very nice evening :-)

Pros: Delicious food, Prices at good, Location next to the waterfront of the palace

Super greasy and tasteless food, do not recommend

Finding a place to eat in Mandalay is hard. We went for the best rates restaurant on happycow, but were really disappointed. I had the curry which was super greasy and not tasty at all. Worst dish so far on my 2-month trip in Asia. My gf had the lentil soup which was at least edible, but small portions.

Pros: Good wi-fi and that's about it

Cons: tasteless and greasy food, staff not paying attention

great food with a good price!

We have been here during all our stay in Mandalay. Close to the downtown. Excellent food, great spice, several vegan options, the waiter speaks great English. We tried fried vegetables rice - “fried” means prepared with a bit of oil and garlic. Very good. Chapati is very good also, lentil dhal. Pumpkin curry can be made vegan, with coconut milk... highly recommended! :)

Real Vegan Food!

Great food, staff and also good price! The place has a nice balcony ambiance. We found it difficult to find vegan restaurants in Mandalay, so we went to this one everyday of our stay:)

Pricey and insincere owner.

We ordered a simple vegetable curry dish with rice for two person. The dish is simple but tasty. Our only gripe is the price is somewhat expensive by local standards. Marie Min is owned by the same non-vegetarian/vegan restaurant owner located right opposite.

Despite being the only vegan/vegetarian restaurant for miles in Mandalay, we still couldn't get the bad taste out of our mouth from the fact that the owner essentially tried to con us into believing that we needed to pay 20,000 Kyats for a 'tag' (double the price for a rental Chinese underbone motorcycle) just to ride out of Mandalay to Pyin Oo Lwin some 67km away.

Pros: Friendly staff.

Cons: Insincere owner.
