Read moreUnfortunately, the experience was disappointing. We found a hair in our salsa, and there was no apology or acknowledgment from staff. The food was very bland, the chips were cold, portions were underwhelming, and the beer was skunky. The restaurant was also uncomfortably cold, which made it hard to enjoy the meal.
While I appreciate the effort to provide a dedicated vegan menu, I would not return based on this experience.

Food is excellent. The free chips are warm. I usually get the sopes which are my favorite.

Good food away from the crowds - Edit
This place was a little out of the crazy crowded part of SLT so that was nice. There’s a decent vegan section on the menu so you don’t have to ask or modify non-vegan items on the menu. The vegan horchata (must specify vegan) was a little watery but I still enjoyed it. Chips and salsa were complimentary (I know some restaurants are moving away from that). I got the sopes with potatoes and soy chorizo and they were really good. Would definitely hit this spot again.

The burrito was okay, but there’s definitely room for improvement. The salad tasted a bit old and wilted, and the beans could really use more seasoning to bring out their flavor. The vegan meat was hard to notice — it would help if it had a stronger presence in both texture and taste. I also missed the freshness that cilantro usually adds, and the pico de gallo could be a lot more vibrant. With some tweaks, this could be much better.

I love Mexican food but it's sometimes hard to find vegan friendly restaurants. So when I found Maria's we decided to try it. There was an entire vegan menu with several options and protein choices. I chose the vegan tacos with the potato/chorizo mix. This was delicious and they gave me a green taco sauce as well as a spicy sauce for them. It came with black beans and cilantro rice, which were OK but not outstanding. The star of the show was the incredible guacamole with house made tortilla chips (salsa too). My meat eater family liked their meals too.

A dedicated vegan section on the menu, with vegan meats, meant we had to go for 3 mains between 2 of us. The green sauce on the enchiladas was a particular highlight. Amazing drinks, friendly service and complimentary chips and salsa to start. Go try it out!

We enjoyed our quesadilla and burrito. At least 5 options with three “meat” choices. Other members of our party enjoyed their food. Servings were substantial. Wine and beer only. Wine margarita was excellent.

I live in South Lake Tahoe and Maria’s is one of my favorite restaurants with vegan options in the area. We go usually every other week. I feel lucky that I live so close to it. My favorite is the potato soy chorizo tacos. Their hand made corn tortillas are so delicious.

Unbelievable plant based vegan options! My new favorite restaurant in lake Tahoe. We had the tacos with the potato chorizo and they were delish! We also had the enchiladas with the plant based chicken with the green sauce on top. OMG unreal! I want those enchiladas again tomorrow but now I have to wait until they open on Wednesday! Regardless of if you are vegan or not get those enchiladas with the plant chicken. So good. Nice friendly service. Seating inside or outside.
