We had the breakfast for two. It's a mixture of different types of bread, bagel and croissants. Round about 10 different handmade spreads and you can select from a list of three different tofu-egg dishes. We took the scramble eggs which was an amazing choice.

Ich habe mir ein Stück Kuchen und einen Iced Latte To Go bestellt. Beides war sehr lecker. Das Kuchenstück (Cheesecake Kirsche) war klein, ungefähr die Hälfte von normaler Größe. Preis 3,90€. Ich schätze sie machen die Stücke lieber kleiner, damit die Preise nicht noch höher sind.

I had a piece of cake and an iced latte to go. Both were very tasty. The piece of cake (cheesecake cherry) was small, about half the normal size. Price 3,90€. I guess they prefer to make the pieces smaller so the prices aren't even higher.
Toilets are 2x unisex, one of the two with baby changing facilities (according to the info on the door).

We came with 2 non vegans, they also liked the food. We had the carotte salmon sandwich, scrambled egg, Rösti and salted caramel cake. I wasn't such a big fan of the cake as it actually tasty salted. I guess it's supposed to when it's called salted caramel however all other salted caramel (or peanut) cakes and ice creams that I had elsewhere did not really taste salty so I expected something else. The carotte salmon wasn't bad however it tasted only like carotte and not like salmon. The Rösti and scrambled egg were good. It was difficult to close the door for the ladies toilet and the sink didn't work so to wash hands we needed to go to the mixed bathroom. Otherwise the place is nice.

Ich bestellte das Spargel-Frikassee für 12,50 €, das Lauch, Erbsen, Champignons, Möhren und Sojabrocken enthielt. Dazu wurde eine einzige Scheibe Brot serviert. Als das Essen ankam, war ich etwas überrascht, da es eher ein Eintopf war und kein typisches Frikassee mit Reis. Der Koch bestätigte dies ebenfalls. Geschmacklich war der Eintopf gut, jedoch sehr eintönig. Die Portion war groß, aber das Gericht war nicht das, was ich erwartet hatte und ich würde es nicht nochmal bestellen.
Zusätzlich bot das Restaurant eine Auswahl an Kuchen an, deren Kombinationen wie Himbeer-Chili-Kuchen mich jedoch nicht ansprachen. Auch die anderen angebotenen Gerichte wie die Köfte-Bowl erschienen mir nicht besonders attraktiv.
Frühstück:
Obwohl ich es selbst nicht ausprobiert habe, habe ich von vielen positiven Bewertungen über das Frühstück im Marae gehört. Das, was ich bei anderen Gästen gesehen habe, sah sehr gut aus. Es scheint, dass das Frühstücksangebot möglicherweise besser zu meinen Vorlieben passen könnte als das Mittagsangebot, das mich nicht überzeugt hat.
Service und Ambiente:
Die Bedienung war freundlich und zuvorkommend. Die Räumlichkeiten des Restaurants waren gemütlich, obwohl der hintere Bereich etwas dunkel war, da die Fenster nur vorne Licht hereinließen.
Fazit:
Das Restaurant Marae bietet eine freundliche Bedienung und eine gemütliche Atmosphäre. Während das Mittagsangebot nicht meinen Erwartungen entsprach, könnte das Frühstücksangebot durchaus einen weiteren Besuch wert sein.

One of the best vegan places in Lübeck - Edit
We've been quite a lot at Marae, still are. The food is always very good, strictly vegan, mostly organic and regional. Also, it's quite original and nicely flavoured. They serve three dishes a week, changing every Tuesday. Besides that, they constantly offer breakfast and raw cakes. Highly recommended!
